How often are we getting in 3rd and long?

It seems we are consistently putting ourselves in third and long.

I recall hearing the commentators mention that Cam has thrown like 9 picks on third down- probably due to us putting ourselves in a hole early on and him pressing to get a chunk play.

Thoughts? We are not having any consistent success of first and second down (or any down for the most part).

Any Huddle researchers want to take the lead to find this stat? How often are we in 3rd and long?

It seems like the pattern is -

play action on first down (incomplete)

run for minimal (or negative yardage) on second

He definitely needs to start checking it down more often- but I don’t mind the deep shots yesteday all in all. Granted it’s easier to take because we won...but it does open up things underneath.

also I think the distance to go is forcing him to try and get that chunk yardage

The announcers mentioned it but it’s been in every game the drag routes are wide open.  Cam has to do a better job seeing these routes.

2nd and long, 3rd and long. We have had both and a bunch of them. The play calling on 1st down has been a major issue.
