Offensives Problems

I know we won, and I'm estatic. this is what the Defense is supposed to look like. We made excellent plays and got off the field on 3rd downs. Now, the problem lies with the offense, who have been for the most part, pedestrian most of the season. To me, it all starts up front. Jake needs better protection to start off. if its only keeping your man off the QB for 2 extra seconds, that will do.

Second- Play-calling. Davidson finally got it together near the end of the game. For some reason, he can't seem to realize that we have 2 very good Tight Ends that can make big plays when i counts. i would love to see them more involved. how about no draw plays on 2nd/3rd and 14?

suggestions?

our offense screwed our defense today. our D gave up 3 points. Our offense shafted the D into giving up the other 14. This ron meeks defense even after being devasted with injuries, is starting to come together. pep even showed some "pep" today. we need more, but today, being against a weak team, they played better. now lets see how they handle the rest of the season facing the second most difficult schedule in the league.

at 1-3, who has time to wait for him to get his act together?

i dont disagree with you, and neither did the coaching staff last year. Stewart got all the yardage in the first half, and everyone thought he was pretty much the starter, then Williams eventually came to. im not saying we should wait it out with Williams

the biggest problem on this team is not Jake....it is not the defense....it is the Offensive Line.

This was a unit that was one of the league's best in teh 2nd half of last season. Now they look lost. They can't run-block....they can't pass protect...they seem to have lost everything they once knew. They are getting owned out there.

They need to step it up big. I hope they are feeling embarassed and come out swinging for the rest of the season. They need to get NASTY.

Yeah, Gross looked like a rookie LT when he got owned by Orakpo yesterday.

How about Davidson starts getting the plays called in earlier?

I've noticed that being an issue at several times this season so far...

Also, Jake needs to learn to step up in the pocket, or the OL needs to drive people further behind him... It's getting absurd the amount of pressure Jake is under...

As someone else also pointed out... get rid of the 3rd and 10 draw...

You know when you really think about it if the offense had played like they did last year, which they should sense they returned ALL starters, then we would probably be 3-1 right now. The Eagles loss wasn't on the defense it was clearly the offense and special teams that killed us. The Falcons game was about the best offensive showing by far and that was clearly on the defense. The Cowboys game the defense played a good game and the offense couldn't get going at all. And now against the Redskins the defense played another good game and the offense got help from a fumble recovery and a big kickoff return.

It seems to me that the offensive line is playing poorly right now and its like every week that Gross has to apologize for their poor play. On top of that all the INT's and fumbles aren't helping either. We have all been angry at the defense but honestly considering the lack of change in the offense from this year to last why are we not more furious at the offense's performance the first quarter of the season?

this to the T... anyone not acknowledging this is overlooking (for whatever reason) the real problem.

Jake is average at best. Put an average QB in behind a line that is letting defenders run past them or pushing the OLine into him and no QB (even great) will have success. There has to be a pocket, and there isn't one. When there is it lasts a good 3 seconds at best.

This goes for the RB too. Our run game sucks. DWill and Stewart can only do so much. There are no holes for our guys to be successful.

Until our OLine gets it together, nothing will change. And it can change, but that's the heart of all our problems right there.

With that said, our defense will suffer by being on the field too much. poo rolls down hill and at the top of it all is the OLine.

that's easy. people don't have a f**king clue as to what they are talking about. read above on our offenses problem and how it rolls down hill. You're onto something there. And that is the real issue.

    • Round 1. TMac arguably the best WR in the draft Round 2. Scour ton mentioned as a possible 1st round edge.     Texas A&M did not use him the same way Purdue did. After the 2023 season he was listed as a first round grade. I believe had Texas A&M used him like they did at Purdue he never makes it out of round 1. Round 3 Princely Umanmielen, we'll go by Princely.  Another highly graded player we got in a lower round. As the video suggests, even if he plays only on passing down it's a positive. Give him a couple of years to develop a he could be a three down player.  Round 4a Etienne IMO a huge upgrade over Blackshear. I can see him in a similar role as CMC without the heavy workload. He can run in between the tackles and has some shifty moves. Give Canales some flexibility. A fellow huddler pointed out UGA running backs don't see the field if they cannot pick up the blitz. Really good pick. Round 4b Ransom a hard hitting safety that has played three different positions on defense. Great pick Round 5a Cam Jackson a massive NT in round 5. I believe a solid rotational pick in a lower round. We added a beast that could make offenses quiver when he's lined up with Brown. Great Value  Round 5b Evans This is another player that can block and has good hands. He also had better seasons before 2024. As a rookie he's probably leaps and bounds better than Ian Thomas. I think he gives us a three headed monster at TE.  Round 6 Horn Jr. Many believe he's just going to be a KR/PR player. I believe there are going to be packages for him to get on the field as a WR. His speed with TMac and Thielen in the slot could be special. I'm really looking forward to seeing him in training camp. I've watched some film and he is very explosive.  Overall I love our picks. I honestly believe all of them will contribute this season. I don't believe we reached on one player in this draft.  This weekend we get a small look at these rookies
    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
