CJ's Impact vs the Run

I know Johnson hasn't had eye catching plays but he seems to be playing with discipline in the run game which is a reason we are a top rank run stuffing D. I'm  concerned this being the best rushing team we face. I'm happy to see a heavier dose of Horton it looks like he's turning into a playmaker time to see if he can do that while playing a much heavier role. Will Pep wear out and minimize his splash plays because of more reps. Its pretty refreshing to read such optimistic views. It's really hate towards Johnson but I'll take the we might even have a nastier line without him views I'm hoping the huddle knows what's it's talking about with the addition by subtraction mantra on a this situation.

Pep has historically been excellent vs the run.  No worry there.  More concerned about 3rd down pass rush when he's tired from playing early in the series.  Horton is gonna have to step up big time!

Isn't Horton pretty much gonna take Johnsons role of being on the field on running downs (with Cox coming in a bit more)?

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
