So he won despite Dave but couldn't do the same with Hurney?  Got it.

Snow,  I know that you are smarter than this.  When Ron took the team over, it was arguably the worst in franchise history at worst and a close second at best.  Under the circumstances that he's had,  he has done a notably outstanding job,  and the NFL has taken notice.

And who built that poo show he took over?

It was actually.  All he had was an inherited SS.  He never was able to build a complete wr core during his tenure.

It wasn’t a huge need. Right now we’d take the wr depth we had in 2008

And guess who scouted and drafted Steve Smith. Know your history.

Jerry Richardson via Marty Hurney.

So now you're going to run with the excuse that it's all Jerry Richardson's fault and we can't blame Marty Hurney for anything?

Good grief, Dawg.

Even accepting that premise, there's still zero reason to pick Hurney over the other options.

I've said numerous times that Hurney screwed up.  I never said that it was all Jerry Richardson's fault.  Ever man has to take responsibility for his actions, even if someone else is pulling the strings.  But,  that doesn't mean that an outsider has to judge things simplistically as opposed to analytically.

"Know your history." That's pretty funny.

Hurney wasn't GM until the year after Smith was drafted. And Jack Bushovsky was the personnel guy (even Hurney himself acknowledges that.

And let me give you a bit of actual history. When the time came receive Smith's first contract negotiation, Marty Hurney famously pissed him off by referring to him as an "unproven" (and per some comments "marginal") receiver whose primary value was on special teams.

Yeah, can't use the same excuse the Gettleman worshipers use.

Kalil? "JERRYS FAULT!"

Good post as usual, Scot. Jerry Richardson started meddling after the 2013 season. See the big contracts he gave Shepard and Kalil!!

Dawg, there is no way to look at our candidate choices "analytically" and choose Marty Hurney.

He just doesn't have what it takes, and everybody but Jerry Richardson knows it.

    • No one called CareBear tonight?!? I'm flabbergasted, simply hornswoggled, downright befuddled!?!
    • The right answer is neither and drafting Maye with the #1 Pick of the 2024 Draft lmfao we traded away the #1 in a QB LOADED DRAFT
    • I have no idea why you are so irrationally upset about the notion that going out and spending $150 million free agency dollars on two interior offensive linemen could be construed as a panic response after our #1 pick we traded a fortune for had one of the worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years. It is objectively what transpired. Dan Morgan as of right now is a mixed bag. Some really good some so so some not so good some bad some really bad. You take any rational criticism personally like you are related to him or something. That's something you'll have to figure out for yourself. Anyways. The predicament Dan Morgan finds himself in for this year will define his future as GM. I sincerely hope he navigates it to perfection. But the circumstances are largely of his own creation. And not just in his stint as GM but going back to his time as assistant GM. Which conveniently people like yourself don't like to talk about. That is the reality of the situation. I like how you will carry water for Dan Morgan to the point of getting into random spats with people but make no mention of Bryce Young's glaring limitations and shortcomings as a starting QB yet go out of your way to put the onus of our struggles squarely on Canales. I mean I've been quite critical of Canales too but he sure isn't the only one to blame for our problems.
