David Newton profiles Ben Navarro

Mr. Scot

Quite possibly more intriguing though: That Navarro and Jerry Richardson have mutual friends.

Someone else had mentioned that on here before.

Technically I suppose you could say that Richardson and David Tepper have mutual friends too (i.e. the Rooneys).

Navarro isn’t one to dominate a business meeting with his thoughts and ideas, like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones does. It’s a style Dommer believes will translate well to NFL ownership.

"I know one thing, Ben really relies on experts," he said. "He's a very active listener. But when it comes time to make a decision he's very decisive. And he certainly expects results. I don't know much about football management, but I know his business management skills are superior."

Navarro hires capable people and trusts them to do the job. Richardson is the same way when it comes to running the football team, for the most part allowing the general manager and head coach to handle football decisions while he focused on business and league matters.

Navarro takes a similar approach in running Sherman Financial and the Meeting Street Schools.

"He doesn't micro-manage," said Sarah Campbell, the principal of Meeting Street Elementary @Brentwood, located in North Charleston, South Carolina.

I'm sold. I was not a fan of Navarro but reading that he lets the experts do their jobs makes me want to pitch in my peasant money for his bid

okay, I'm sold.

I think that might be the point.

Our buddy Roaring Riot has pointed out that the NFL can be somewhat controlling when it comes to the release of information. It makes me wonder if a pro Navarro article is a sign of things to come.

That's all speculation, of course. Maybe I just need to loosen my tinfoil.

Hey, are you saying I am susceptible to propaganda!

I mean, I know I am, but that's not the point!

Based on what little we know of these potential owners, Navarro would be my choice.

Seems to be a decent human being, who is decisive and surrounds himself with subject matter experts.  He specifically moved his family to the Carolinas because he likes the area. Navarro also likes the Panthers open air stadium.

What is JR waiting for?

Close the deal already!

Fans would probably appreciate this...

That doesn’t mean Navarro would rule like Richardson, known as "Mister" to most of his employees. It's believed he would create a culture in which he'd be much more accessible than Richardson -- who was hardly accessible at all over the past 10 to 15 years -- to the public, media and even those who work for him.

Jerry Richardson was about as accessible as Greta Garbo (look her up, young people). Having someone who would do more interviews and be more accessible to fans would likely be viewed as a big positive.

need navarro to micro manage a little to get ron and hurney out of town first. then he can sit back and relax.

Everything I've read about him makes me think he hires a consultant to help with reorganization. Might even be our old friend Ernie Accorsi again, given that he grew up a Giants fan.

Whether you like it or not, Ron Rivera is a coaching commodity. Even Sabates realized that.

    • WR: Nico, Woods, Tank (R) TE: Schultz OL: Tunsil/Howard/Deiter/Mason/Fant vs. WR: Chark, Thielen, Mingo (R) TE: Hurst OL: Icky/Zavala (R)/Bozeman/Jensen (R)/Moton   Panthers' had the better OL before losing BC week 1 and AC week 4 which is kind of ironic considering how in the following year DB went down in W1 and Shaq in W4 resulting in the defense going all to Hell. CJ has done amazing in Houston, but he also wasn't asked to carry Zavala, Jensen, Mingo, Hurst, and Chark as a rookie.
    • Past 5 seasons, IMO CJ Stroud and Joe Burrow are the 2 best young QBs that have emerged in the league in that window.  They also didn’t need vets to be their primary pass catchers.  They helped fellow youngsters be great at WR.   almost all the other young QBs have been paired up with vets in their top options….and haven’t been as promising.  so it isn’t Madden.  But the league hasn’t played out as you suggest it does.   Good QBs make others around them better.
    • In 2023 their roster wasn’t stacked. They nailed the poo out of the 2023 draft and since they knew Davis Mills wasn’t the guy, they tanked properly to get pick 2. They also took Cleveland’s ridiculous offer for Watson unlike us with Burns. Houston received enough draft capital to jump up to 3 while picking up the right guys in Anderson and Stroud. The Texans were not stacked or better than us in 2023. They had 11 total wins from 2020 to 2022. They didn’t have a terrible front office so they made sure they got their QB of the future while tanking well and getting more draft picks. They are a textbook study of what we should have done in 2022/2023 offseason even though people in here still think tanking is a bad word and our culture would be bad if we were the Texans. We literally had the chance to be the Texans right now and fuged it up.
