Did we win yesterday or what??

I avoided gameday like I usually do to avoid the hysterics and constant complainers. Still If I look at the threads today I can't find anything that suggests we won. There is even one that is titled Our Biggest Obstacles to Winning Yesterday. Seriously????

I know the team isn't great and a win doesn't change everything but we are a game away from .500 with a good chance to win at home against Buffalo. After our preseason if someone said we would be 3-3 after our start I would be more than happy.

Then why is everyone so nasty and critical? It almost feels like everyone had so many negative things to say over the past 3 games, they can't acknowledge anything positive or even be happy we won.

This really is a most depressing forum despite a 2 game winning streak which could easily become 3 or even 4. Can't we lighten up at least until we lose again????

You can't live in the now and enjoy what you have if you are always worrying and predicting the worst down the road. It bad things are going to happen it will be soon enough. Until then we ought to be able to enjoy the win at least for a day or two.

Good post, I was wondering the same thing. As a Saints fan steeped in misery over the years, I've learned to savor each victory. There are some miserable muthF*&^ers on this board. It truly is amazing. When will you be happy if you can't be happy after a win?

I always love a win my friend but the reason why everyone is mad is because with how we are playing things won't matter at the end of the season. The same things are being regurgitated on our team and we are hardly beating garbage teams. We need to really change the mindset of our team on offense especially if we want a chance at the playoffs. So many teams in the NFC this year have a much better chance of going to the playoffs than we are. If we don't change the way we play we are going to have a high draft pick but with no draft pick to show for it. People are mad and they want to know why we didn't blow out the Tampa Bay Buccaqueers.

Well, our biggest obstacle to winning yesterday was Jake. It's sad, but it's true.

The defense has been a real positive for the past 2 weeks, I don't care who it was against. And the running game was beastly yesterday.

It's just so hard to get over how bad Jake has been. After the philly game I was very hesitant to call for his head and was patient to see how it plays out. But at this point it's undeniable that he's the biggest liability to this team. It's throwing everything off. Moore may or may not be the future QB, but at this point he's an upgrade. And that's sad. It's hard to focus on anything else.

I for one am happy with the wins and I do feel that aspects of the team are improving (defense and running game) but I will never be quiet about other parts of our team that are not good. To me complaining about the front offices lack of addressing the QB situation or the WR situation is part of being a fan.

I complain because i care so much. I live and die with this team from week to week and i guess that leads to complaints. Sorry

I can however look on the bright side and see that we are a player or two away from a potential playoff berth.

this is what amazes me about fans; I would've loved to have seen a Cardinal message board 5-6 games into the season last year. They got hot and went on a run. Any team has that capability. It should actually encourage you guys that you played like dogsh*t and still won. Would you rather be Philly today and actually not squeaked out a close one to a bad team?

If the Saints spank us like the Patriots did the Titans, how should we feel?

Im not complaining about us winning...I am just mad at how stubborn our coach is with Jake Delhomme. We were very lucky that the buccaneer's defense is atrocious against the run and we are all just not happy with an under performing team.

you got blown out one game right? Could've won the other two right? When you start losing like that, yeah hold on because the titanic is falling. I'm telling you, the Saints are very weary of you guys catching fire....those numbers for Jake are so bad though...

Jake has had 2 bad games and 2 pretty decent games. He is not the whole problem nor the whole solution. Offense is offense and yesterday we scored 28 points and had over 300 net yards. Our first down efficiency was over 50% and we actually went for it on fourth down and made it.

The liability on the team was not having all phases work together for the win. That was a liability again yesterday particularly in special teams.

Moore has shown no reason to believe he is an upgrade. He has potential nothing else yet.

    • What's up gents, the OGs remember me, the guy who single-handedly gave the Panthers the greatest uniform in history moniker. Not too long after that I got involved with Pro Football Focus (pre-Collinsworth acquisition) and ended up taking backseat here to preserve some objectivity. But from a distance I noticed a lot. After the end of the Cam era this place devolved into the most un-fun, petty, negative cesspool of whining and bitching that has ever graced the internet. The worst part of it all is that the level of discussion turned into the most ill-informed, hot-take, unnuanced crap, rife with people talking out of their posteriors as if they have any clue about what they are watching. Once you get into the professional side of the sport and actual film rooms, you start to understand there's an absurd number of moving parts to pretty much every snap and the details you are privy to are truly only half the picture. The absolute most important thing I learned from being part of professional level football analysis is that quarterbacking is literally the most intricate and difficult position in all of professional sports, and that the NFL itself is struggling to develop any workable model that allows them to understand what makes one succeed vs what makes one fail. Because of this paradox it has also made the quarterback position itself grossly overvalued from a fan and media standpoint, creating an absurd fixation on the results delivered by a single player who has to rely on the contributions of everyone around them. This also drives the dreaded inflation of QB salaries that inevitably cause even elite teams to lose key talent all to pour cash into the one player supposed to be able to single-handedly elevate the entire team (and defense and special teams and coaching and ownership by some mysterious proxy), yet without those same players even talented teams can wander the wilderness searching for the right guy to take advantage of their talent window. The discussions the last few years around Bryce has personified this insanity, as this board has devolved into some sort of electronic civil war between the hyperbolic Young supporters and the vitriolic Bryce haters. The reality, like practically everything in this world, is somewhere in the middle. He has traits that can absolutely elevate a team with creativity, play recognition, off-arm angle throws, mental toughness, etc. He's also physically limited, with mostly "good-enough" qualities for most situations that a professional quarterback is asked to do, and will never be an overpowering physical force like pre-injury Cam. But "good-enough" physicality represents a large majority of championship-winning quarterbacks, even in the modern era. There's a reason the corpse of Peyton Manning took the chip from elite physical specimen Cam, because the team surrounding him was talented enough to get him there, while we all know Cam was the driving force of that 2015 team. That's no knock on him, that's just how the game of football tends to work: the more complete team usually wins. The summary is this: if this team lives or dies solely on the performance of its quarterback, then it is absolutely a paper tiger even if he plays brilliantly week in and out. There are no superheroes in this sport, there are only conduits that proxy the collective efforts of much of the team around them. And no one alive can tell you how the position is played perfectly, it's all a confluence of circumstance and what unique collection of traits each player brings to the position, which can never be truly recreated season after season, even for the same player on the same team. If this place remains a raging hellscape of idiotic hot takes I will happily remove myself again and do something more productive for yet another decade, but maybe's there hope that we can all get back to the old adage, and keep pounding.
