I don't think for one second Amini will start over Van Roten after the way the latter performed this entire preseason. Ron is a good coach and smarter than some of you guys credit him to be.

I hope you're right.

I don't think Ron is dumb by a longshot. He's a damn good football coach, but he has definitely shown some blind loyalty to vets in his depth chart choices in the past and that blind loyalty has been exposed several times by way of injuries forcing younger backups onto the field where they immediately showed they were simply better football players than the vets in front of them.

In pass protection almost every play it looks like it’s his first time ever playing football. He seriously looks like he has no idea what  to do or who to block. And god forbid if the other team runs a stunt.

Amini can’t handle a DT that bull rushes  he just gets run over and considering he’s 300+ That’s pretty pitiful  dude has no balance or leverage    If he just wouldn’t get decleated and laid at cams feet it would be a positive play on his behalf

How he continues to start is amazing. Van Roten looked like the next white buffalo. And RRs gonna bench him. Smdh

We all know Aminis' skill set. No need to rehash all that. It is depressing enough.

Also, you have no proof that Coach is going to start Amini when he comes back. I wish folks would stop projecting there fears into this situation.

Van Rotten looked good. There is every chance he starts.

Now to be fair. Most Coaches are the same way. Kids make more mistakes than vets. Coaches hate mistakes. Ergo. most Coaches play their vets.

Van Rotten has looked good. Here's to hoping the universe sees it that way as well. 39 or so more hours until we find out.

Even the best coaches have flaws (Belichick often does things out of spite, which is dumb).  Unfortunately, this is one of Rivera's.

Flaws can be overcome.  Whether or not this one will be remains to be seen.

Lol....hey, i wanna say Ron is great and is truly a top coach in this league.....But after 7 seasons i just dont see it and its plenty of more reasons outside of choosing to play shitty vets over more talented players.

To be fair, it's true.  Might actually say more about his interviewing skills than his coaching.

Rivera's biggest flaws to me don't revolve around Xs and Os.  It's people related judgments, i.e. player evaluation, depth chart setting, assistant coach choices (and unfortunate loyalty), etc.

As mentioned previously though, I couldn't name a flawless NFL coach.  They all have their strengths and weaknesses.  And just like it isn't "hateful" to accept there are things Newton needs to work on, you can acknowledge Rivera's flaws without it being personal.

The tone in your comments would suggest otherwise. If you would have used this post first. I probably would have not even responded.

There is a difference between your post. Where you at least qualified your stance. And @CPF4LIFE throwing out his hot takes.

Explain your point of view, and we can debate it. Throwing out hot takes, does not lend itself to discussion. To wit. I explained myself you you. But I hot taked his hot take.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
