Why We Lose: Pass Rush Is Abysmal

Our entire defensive system is predicated on consistent pressure and pass rush even when not blitzing, and it simply isn't there aside from the couple of a times a game that Julius Peppers shows up. KK Short and Addison are heavily under-performing and Obada has been a flash in the pan. Yes, the secondary is supbar, but no defense can hold for 5+ seconds down after down. If we don't blitz, we almost never get pressure, and that simply is not how this defense is designed to work. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like there are any ways to improve the situation this late into the season.

I agree with what you’re saying, but it’s not the reason why we lose IMO. The reason is because our HC has decided to ignore the realities of what you just said and continue to put our team in position to rely on the very unreliable defense in order to win us games. There are ways to overcome what you brought up. It just involves not pumping the brakes on our offense.

well let's see.. KK short got paid so he don't have to try so hard anymore.. poe lives in no man's land, and the rotational DE's are playing patty cake.. remember that british De who had that one good game and was overly hyped?? yeah what happened there?

    • Why are Vikings fans acting like we peed in their cereal?
    • I’m actually fine with our TE group. I would like to see us upgrade at ILB, maybe safety and CB.   I think we are good at WR. I thought Corley could have been a good player but I guess he wasn’t doing good at all.   I came across this article about Corley from today. I know sometimes a change of scenery can really help turn around a player and we’ve seen plenty of players from the jets end up being good other places. I just don’t know if Corley is that guy.   https://www.newsweek.com/sports/nfl/jets-insider-shares-embarrassing-fact-about-malachi-corleys-release-2119816
    • I was really rooting for him after seeing that video about his struggles. I always thought he was a solid and underrated player.   I thought for sure he would have made the team after hearing all the hype and how he made that overthrown catch by Plummer behind the line and still was able to gain a yard or two off it. Plummer really overthrew him each time yet he was able to still not lose yards. I think he still could play in the nfl. I think he may need a few months to get into top form though. Hopefully he will get signed to another team.
