No, you’re right. Should have kicked it.

Last week folks questioned aggressive play calling when I can well imagine those same folk wanting to pillory RR if he goes conservative.

We stayed aggressive and played to win. I dont like the outcome but I dont hate the calls.

The D failed the O.  Simple as that.  The folks around here who are quick to bitch about us going conservative on O play calling need to STFU.

Does anyone have another angle of the 4th and 3 in the first? The camera angle they showed were both poor shots of the run. However, on the camera from behind it clearly looked like we got the first down. The tv instant replays were garbage and I hope that’s not what the officials looked at.

he made it ,no doubt...

When Lockett scored on the pass play, coming back to the ball while in the endzone..  Miraculously there was a camera looking right down the goal line/

Why no camera on the 4 th and 3 from the side or over head.. they have that flying on strings camera to goes into the huddles etc..

Now,,  how many of you think we got away with a pick play on McCaffery's  TD reception in that end zone ??

It's never even,, and it doesn't even out over a season ...   But we do get some calls too..

I hate those who say the refs missed holding calls..    Yeah,, I agree and I know that goes both ways..  It is true, you could call holding on about 100 % of the plays..

of course there are going to be missed holding calls. we are upset about the glaringly obvious holds right in front of the QB in hugely important situations. like KK Short today was absolutely mugged on a play that resulted in a 30 yard completion, which was followed up by a TD.

I say we should have kicked it bc it was early. I’m like you, I didn’t hate the call, I just hated the ruling. We got hosed. The D has failed the O on about every loss this year. Ultimately, that’s the problem with this team. Play calling has been good enough to win, the D is giving up way too much for us to win.

They are ignoring holding far more than usual across the league this year. just watching other games besides the panthers I've seen hardly any holding calls. It's fkn stupid. You know they'll still call it if its all they have to use to influence a big game down the stretch though.

totally fine with conservative play calling or aggressive play calling if the situation calls for it. the problem is rivera has absolute zero clue when to use one or the other.

    • Absolutely. He just turned 27 a few days ago, so quite young. He and Moehrig would be quite the pairing.  I know we say this every year, but this FA period has A LOT of talent that will be switching uniforms. We were aggressive last year and have no doubt this time next week will have some studs on defense.
    • DJ Moore has always been a bit of an enigma. He came here young, flashed a ton of potential, but never truly grew into a real #1. He’s had a few good reasons, but yet to have a real monster season (outside of his first year with Chicago) We’re still waiting for him to blossom, but he will be 29 next season. I fear that it is too late for him at this point.
    • I have considered free agency.  LT?  Either not good enough or too expensive.  Besides, this is a good OT draft.  (I would rather have a free agent, mind you, but the Panthers' reality suggests we can't do it without neglecting other positions).  What LTs are available in free agency, and what do you expect to pay?  Any Ickey-level OT is going to cost over $20m.   How much do we already have invested in our OL?  I get your point, but I do not think you can spend over $100m per on your OL. We have 2 guards and a right T who pull in about $75m per season.  We don't have a center yet.  Teams just don't let good LTs hit free agency, and when one does on rare occasion, he is expensive.  If you want a third of the Panther cap going to 5 Offensive Linemen, free agency is the way to go.  We still need S, ILB, Edge, WR, etc. I think we'd need more than Nijman--and I would understand if we went free agent for a T--but that is putting a TON of your cap at OL--so considering our situation, I do not see that option as preferable.  You may disagree. If I was not talking LT on our line and thinking about the cap, I would agree 100%.
