Cam once held a strong top 5 spot in the league as far as Throwing power... Now these young guns seem to want to have a open duel to see who throws farther, Allen said its gonna take at least 85 yards in the air to beat him, while Mahomes holds a season record of longest completion at over 61 yards in the air... Take your bets....(its the offseason but this sounds fun)

It would not surprise me to see Mahomes throw the ball 100 yards in the air.  He has got maybe the strongest arm I have ever seen on a QB in my 38 years.  Being a baseball player / pitcher growing up helped his arm strength and his ability to throw from different angles tremendously.

Unlikely to happen. Can you imagine if one of them got hurt doing this? Anyway, he says "maybe" next off season.

Why would an NFL QB hurt themselves by throwing the ball hard?  I would venture to say that their arms are in good enough condition to let a couple rip and not feel any adverse effects.

100 yards in the air... LOL! GTFO

Mahomes has a great arm for sure, but with his feet set I don't think he has any better arm than Cam before the shoulder issues, Rodgers, Stafford, Flacco, etc. What really sets him apart is his ability to seemingly delivery the same velocity on the move and from weird throwing angles as he does when he has his feet set.

https://www.ourlads.com/story/default/Quarterback-Ball-Velocity-at-NFL-Combine-2008-2017/10243/dh/ I mean if we are talking pitching speeds and such no one really is touch Allen seeing as he has had the highest throwing speed since they invented a means of tracking it since 2008. I don’t think most of the public is aware of the howitzer this kid has attached to his shoulder.

Dude absolutely has a cannon, but he was also one of the least accurate QBs I've ever watched coming into the draft. My comparison for him was Christan Hackenberg.

Humm hackenberg is harsh lol. I think he played well enough to be optimistic about him this year. Considering they had no talent around him on offense. Things I saw were flashes... he flashes rare athleticism, he had few big rushing games and I saw the big throws down the field. Accuracy wise there is a lot to work on.

But if I am just talking throwing power here is 80 yards in the air right here. Commentators are like he might step into the league and have the strongest arm. Sounds like raiders gm Mayock.

I know we are talking arm strength but I would love to point out he is quietly one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the league, after they unleashed him had nearly 4 100 yard rushing games

If you can't hit the broadside of a barn, you better be able to run. It'll be interesting to see if that carries over to next year and future years now that NFL DCs have a full season of film on him.

Not disagreeing with you. I just think he has an amazing set of tools to work with. I think there were worse QBs year one than Allen(Rosen). I feel I can build of 10 touchdowns 12 ints. I feel better about Allen than I do Lamar Jackson as far as long term if I am coach.

He definitely has some great physical tools, but accuracy is HUGE when it comes to NFL QBs. People complain about Cam's somewhat erratic accuracy but Cam looks like Brady compared to Allen.

Jackson won't make it if he doesn't develop as a passer. The Ravens ran him an absurd number of carries for a QB last year. They really were running a straight up wildcat offense with him.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
