Around the League Draft and Free Agent News

Stuff happening around the NFL during draft week...

Free agent signings tend to be few and far between in the days leading up to the draft, but word that the Bills have signed runningback TJ Yeldon. I know one or two folks were interested in getting him here. You were close. He went to Panthers North.

A new team has apparently entered into the Frank Clark trade discussion, specifically the Kansas City Chiefs. PFT's Josh Alper mentioned them as an option, with the Jets and Panthers North also on the radar.

And this from the broadcast world: The Sporting News reports that "barring a miracle", Peyton Manning will not be joining the Monday Night Football crew. Apparently, Peyton doesn't want to risk having to do commentary on games where his brother Eli is playing. Makes sense, and at least potentially leaves that gig as an option for Greg Olsen next year.

Feel free to post more news as it happens...

I can't imagine Sweat's heart evaluation was THAT bad of he was allowed to actually participate at the Combine. Then again, it could be some other issue getting flagged.

Either way, I call BS. That wouldn't just be leaking out now. That would've been known for weeks if not months.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

Yeah, I'm not buying that whole line that he'll drop out of the first.

I do grant it's possible. And I'd add that people shouldn't assume just because prior players' heart issues have been no big deal that his will also.

Yea very true. This could be something more serious than Star but I do want him with our 16th pick.

With three days remaining before the 2019 NFL Draft kicks off, trade rumors continue to heat up.

The biggest name available ahead of Thursday's first round is Seattle Seahawks franchise-tagged defensive end Frank Clark.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday on Good Morning Football that the Seahawks have been talking to several teams about Clark, including the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets.

Could mean they try to move up to 1 for Murray.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
