Kicker?

How?

Mare never really had an issue with XP's. He was just absurdly unreliable with FG's. Kinda the opposite of Gano. Maybe we should raise the bar above two woefully inconsistent kickers that hurt the team as much as they help?

Gano (2017-2018): 93.5 FG%, 91.4 XP% (9 total missed kicks)

Butker (2017-2018): 89.9 FG%, 95.9 XP% (11 total missed kicks)

Yea, he's outkicked him alright...

To tack onto your stats to help @thefuzz out since he doesn’t want to do any research:

2017-2018 Playoffs stats:

Harrison Butker: 66.7 FG% (missed 1 of 3)

Graham Gano: 80 FG% (missed 1 of 5)

Oh by the way, the one playoff FG Butker missed?  It was in a 21-22 loss to the Titans...ouch. But by all means, let’s put Butker up on a pedestal while talking about how much Gano sucks. Like I said, they’re comparable in their performance (which was being generous to Butker if anything) but Butker is just much cheaper.

I would love to see how you’d react to someone cherry-picking stats to trash Cam Newton, like “here’s a list of Cam’s completion percentage to show how much he sucks!”. If you have to use a stat that portrays Olindo Mare as one of the better kickers in NFL history, you should probably take a second to re-evaluate.

Do you have a short memory or do you recall how many missed XPs were blocked due to our line letting guys come through untouched?

cherry-picking stats

How does one cherry pick XP percentage for kickers? It's their main purpose for being on the roster right along with FG's.

Who tries this hard to shield a fugging kicker? Not just any kicker mind you, one that even Washington couldn't wait to run out of town, and they have been one of the most poorly ran organizations in the league for years.

You are saying we shouldn't shield Gano.  Okay then.  Name an option who is available who would be better.

If you can't answer the question, then what exactly is your problem with us keeping Gano?

The issue with some of ya'll is you think this is Madden.  No team is going to have a good player at every single position.

Gano is above average.  What's so bad about that?  Like you guys want us to replace him but other than Butker, who have we had an opportunity to sign that would be clearly better AND cheaper than Gano?

There is nothing wrong with the team going forward with Gano.  He can be inconsistent, but that is the case for every kicker not named Tucker.  Just look at the #s.  He's fine.

And does it suck he misses XPs?  Yes, but keep in mind that is a small sample size.  The difference between his 90% and someone's 95% could be 1 missed extra point.  You need to apply context to your numbers.

What kind of argument is this? Have I indicated at all that I am confused about the fact we are stuck with him? Just because we are stuck with him doesn't mean we have to suck his dick.

We both know he isn't going anywhere this season. Possibly not even next season. But we need competition in the next season or two, legitimate competition, not just some camp body.
