Scott Turner

It wouldn't surprise me if Scott called some plays. Norv probably installs the overall game plan and has like 30-40 base plays for the game and they tweak things off of that. Scott might be making the final call on like 2-3 plays per situation that Norv has picked out.

Regardless, what concerned me the most about this system was during that Rams game where Cam couldn't hear the playcall through his helmet, and he couldn't just call a play on his own to avoid a penalty. Ridiculous a 30 year old veteran QB in his 9th season couldn't just call a play on his own. I don't know if it was on the coaching staff not allowing that or what, but that was extremely concerning to me.

But why, is Kyle unable to hear Norv directly?

This is the way most OCs do it when they sit in the box. That way they have someone on the field calling plays so if there are any communication problems then Scott has a direct line to the QB. Plus Scott is the person who spend the most time with the quarterbacks and works with them directly

    • I mean, I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the last statement, but point taken.
    • Pass rush was the biggest issue in tonight’s game, and we were tied for 28th in sacks this season. That is a major area of need that has to get addressed this offseason. I just don’t see a path where there’s a game changing QB you can bring in with where we are drafting and quality of veterans that will be available. We certainly can do better than Dalton as a backup, and should ideally have a developmental guy  (perhaps a day 3 pick this year). We have bryce for one more year on a reasonable contract and then I think 2027 is the year that you reset that position (unless he massively improves).
    • Agreed, honestly basically bringing this group back as a healthy unit would be alright.  Brady Christensen should be resigned to a very reasonable deal with him recovering from the Achilles.  Atleast we're alright at 4 of our 5 spots with Lewis, Mays, Hunt, and Moton, Nijman was decent.  While if we can snag a deal on someone, take a stab, however our resources need to go to Linebacker, Pass Rush and a real option outside Tmac (coker is amazing, but if we can get someone who isnt braindead opposite Tmac, we can fully unleash Coker AND Tmacs full potential, cant move him into the slot if racoon boy is out there licking doorknobs).
