09/12/2019 - Prior to the game Tampa game on the FOX pre-game show, Jay Glazer commented on the lack of running Cam did in the Rams game, and reported apparently from a team source is was Cam's choice not to run.

09/12/209 - Immediately after the Tampa game at Rivera's presser he was asked about Newton's performance and why he didn't sneak it on 4 and 1. Rivera was adamant Newton's foot was fine. Apparently later that night Newton goes to the coaches and reveals he's really injured. Pictures surface of Newton at an airport wearing a boot.

09/18/2019 - Wednesday injury report comes out, Newton is listed as questionable heading into the Arizona game.

09/19/2019 - Rivera storms out of press conference after repeated questions regarding Newton's status.

09/22/2019 - Kyle Allen wins the game in Arizona.

09/24/2019 - Joe Person comes out with a report few days later that Cam's injury is actually a Liz Franc, a much serious injury than the team first reported. But the question remains, who was the source behind Person's story? The team or Cam's camp?

09/27/2019 - Friday before the game in Houston ,Cam releases a Vlog stating he's injured and revealing that he hid injury from training staff and coaches but realized he wasn't the player or athlete we're accustomed to, and relayed to the coaches for the good of the team he needed to sit himself down and heal.

09/29/2019 - Allen leads Panthers to victory over Houston.

09/30/2019 - At his Monday presser Rivera is asked if he saw Newton's Vlog, his response "I listened to it. He said what he had to say."

10/04/2019 - Friday before the game at home with Jacksonville Newton releases a workout video titled Guess Who's Back.

10/06/2019 - Allen and Panthers secure another victory against Jacksonville. Newton not visible on the sideline, (which caused a melee on the Huddle to say the least.)

10/09/2019 - Wednesday night the Panthers take flight to London for the showdown with Tampa. Newton is not on the flight. Panthers released statement that it was in Newton's best interest recovery wise to travel with team.

10/10/2019 - WBTV reports Cam was spotted at airport traveling to unknown destination. (More Huddle fun)

10/13/2019 - Ian Rapoport releases an report prior to the game in London that the Panthers were mulling over the fact to continue with Allen despite Newton's health status, to quote the article. "They plan to make the decision when Newton is completely healthy and not before. But the fact that Allen has actually made it a decision is a turn few saw coming."

10/13/2019 - Allen leads the Panthers to their 4th victory of season against Tampa Bay.

10/14/2019 - Adam Schefter reports that Cam Newton's foot injury has reportedly healed well, QB on track to resume practice following bye. Again the familiar theme in all of this is who was Schefter's source, the team or Cam's camp?

10/15/2019 - Jourdan Rodrique reports that Rivera said he can't confirm ESPN report that Newton will be back to practice post bye.

If one was a conspiracy theorist you would say there has been some duel narratives being played out in the media.

I think Cam was sincere when he said he wanted to heal and get back to 100% health before returning, but also believe with the emergence of Kyle Allen that may incentivise him to rush it. Newton and his agent have to know this is a pivotal year regarding his contract status.  After 0-2 start and with Newton on the sideline had the Panthers season season tanked, the leverage would have been clearly on Newton's side. But with the Panthers going 4-0 that dynamic has shifted.

Should be interesting the next few weeks have things play out, I like Newton, but I love the Panthers and right now the chemistry is rolling and you can't just stop the momentum.

Kyle Allen and Greg Olsen have said that Cam is helping Kyle out during the week with film.  I doubt Cam wants anything but for this team to succeed, even without him.  Cams future all depends on how he heals and has nothing to do with Kyle Allen's success.  If Cam is truly healthy he will get a big contract either here or somewhere else.  If not he will get a prove it type contract if he decides to continue playing.
