Fan divisions

Why does a fanbase get divided over one player. Of course I'm referencing Cam here because he's the only one that I can remember causing this much discord between fans.  Delhomme did to a degree but it was only after he had his surgery and he clearly wasn't the same.  I view Cam as a middling QB talent that declined after an onslaught of physical punishment.

When we drafted Cam I figured (based on past observations of running QB's) that his window for helping the franchise was fairly short compared to prototypical pocket passers.  I believe that window is closed and Cam is done.  It doesn't mean I hate the Panthers and want them to lose, no it means I want the Panthers organization to realize that it's time to move forward.  I make no secret of the fact that I believe Cam is done.

I'm not into sentimentality.  I want my teams to win.  But why don't other people share my view?  I'm honestly curious.  What makes you want to keep being mediocre by forcing a man out there that isn't physically the same as he once was?   Is there some misguided belief that as people age their bodies somehow miraculously improves?  I've had surgery.  I can tell you that I was better 5 years before the surgery than I was after it.  That's normal.  It's wear and tear.

Bottom line is that Cam is coming back eventually, and god bless him I hope he does well but I don't expect it especially given how much he's been pounded over the past 8-9 years.  I believe we should trade him to some sucker so that we can get some help in other areas.  We're not going to the super bowl this year quit fooling yourself.  If today's game wasn't an indicator then I don't know what to tell you.

My issue is Rivera.  That philosophy of his does not work

Game after game. Year after year, it is the same. No sense in repeating all the reasons why   We know the reasons why

A drastic change needs to come. Should have happened before this season and that change will dictate Cam’s future based on his year end performance and desire to continue

Said it before, will say it again...

If we win without Cam Newton, I'm not going to feel bad.

If we win without Kyle Allen, it's also not going to bother me.

If we win without Luke Kuechly, that's okay.

If we win without Christian McCaffrey, no problem.

If we win without Greg Olsen, James Bradberry, Shaq Thompson, Taylor Moton, Will Grier or anybody else, it just doesn't matter.

I can feel bad for players if they don't have individual success, but as ruthless as it may sound, as long as the team wins I don't really care that much.

It's the team's success that has meaning. Anything else is a very distant second, or third, or twentieth.

That player sows division in the fanbase in large part because dipshits like you are pounding that wedge with the ferocity of a meth fueled jackhammer.

Me?  You won't find one negative comment by me about Cam until maybe the Super Bowl in 2015...go ahead and search mongoloid.  Difference between me and you is I want my team to win.

The divisions are simple,

1) People who love cam but dont care what team hes on, just like him.

2) People who are actually kinda racist and dont like cam so they just want allen regardless of outcome (these numbers are a lot lower than the cam only fans would have you believe, but I'm not naive enough not to admit they exist)

3) Panthers fans regardless of QB.  This is the largest segment, but these fans are far more quiet then their dipshit counterparts.

Sad part is cam supports allen and allen supports cam but the dipshits wont care.

It's the team's success that matters.

You know Mr Scot I think you're the most level headed fan in existence.  Especially for this shithole franchise.

I LOVE theory 2 btw.  It's usually the leftist loonies that bring it up but it's still butter to me.

I rooted for the Panthers well before Cam and I will root for the Panthers well after Cam. Meanwhile, you make poo threads like this

then bump it repeatedly and when no one takes the bait, you create a new thread with a slightly different angle. LOL @ you making a thread asking why this player drives divisions in this fanbase. Idiots like you ARE the division. Fug you. Straight up.

If you'd have seen me a few hours ago, "level headed" probably wouldn't have been the first description that came to mind.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
