Or to roll over.

That too but you still got to fill a 90 man roster by TC no matter what your plan is..  Plus even if you're tanking you still want to try and fix some spots this offseason..

Sticking with the 3-4/3-3-5/3-3-6 concept Snow and Rhule like to run...

Cut: Poe, Gano, and Davis (how is he still on the roster at 3M?). That puts us at 37M in cap space. Leaving 30-33 after rookie signings.

FA Targets:

  • Barkevious Mingo or similar veteran player (1 Year, 2M)
  • Andrew Billings, NT (4 Years, 22M)
  • Mackenzie Alexander, slot CB (3 Years, 24M)
  • Michael Brockers, 3-4 DE (2 years 22M)

Cap space left: 3.5M-6.5M to sign some depth pieces in the secondary

Draft:

  • 1st Round: Trade back with the Raiders (7th, and next years 2nd for 12th and 19th)  and draft Kristian Fulton, CB and Patrick Queen, ILB
  • 2nd Round: Neville Gallimore, NT - perfect complement to Billings. His combine may have pushed him into the 1st Round.
  • 3rd Round: Kyler Dugger, FS
  • 4th - 7th Round: Find some secondary depth and at the DE/OLB spots with 2 of the picks. other two should be on O-Line depth and a skill player.

New look defense:

  • 3-4 DEs: KK, Brockers, Obada, Smith
  • NT: Billings and Gallimore
  • 3-4 OLB: Burns, Miller, Hayes, Draft/FA Vet signing
  • LB: Thompson, Queen, Carter, Smith
  • CB: Fulton, Jackson, Alexander, FA Signing, Late Round Draft Pick
  • S: Dugger, Reid, Jones, FA Depth Signing/Late Round Draft Pick

I've corrected a lot of the issues in the run game by adding Billings and Brockers to the defensive line. Queen paired with Thompson at LB gives us the real athleticism at the position and provides a high football IQ and decision making that is now missing with Luke gone.  OLB isn't a strength on paper, but I'm hoping on some development from Miller in year two under Snow and Mingo is a relatively cheap depth piece with experience. CB depth will remain an issue due to limited cap space and lack of great options on the FA market. Bringing in someone like Vernon Hargreaves to compete with Jackson wouldn't be a bad idea if the price is right.
