Hoover being out is worse than people can imagine, however...

I think we should put MacKenzy Bernadeau in at fullback. Yea, he's 6'4" and 300 lbs. but he is relatively fast for a big guy and gets downfield on special teams pretty good. Losing Hoover at the point of attack is going to be tough to overcome with a King, a Rosario, or a Barnidge. Put Bernadeau in the backfield for the game and smash his big ass up the gut. It's not like we ever check down to Hoover on pass plays or hand the ball off to him more than once a game. We just need somebody that can block like Hoover. Why not a guard that is used to pulling?

Just a thought.

We need somebody that knows the offense and terminology for Sunday. If Neal did come in, he might be able to pick up a few things quick because fullback is not rocket science. However, protections are pretty confusing and NO has some weird blitz packages. I'd prefer a guy with knowledge of our schemes and the ability to throw a mean block in cramped space.

I can't remember it was one of our TE's, or somebody on our defensive unit, but there is SOMEONE on our team that used to play several positions, and fullback was one of them.

Now I'm gonna go crazy to I figure it out.

Rosario out of Oregon

No need for craziness. :D

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
