As you know, we are eating 11M in dead cap due to Luke's retirement. I haven't seen any reports about the team seeking that money out, does anyone know if there is a deadline on that? Is the front office looking to be classy by letting him keep all of it with plans to eat the loss since this was health related.

Luke was understandable, both Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson sprang it on the team without notice.

Let's see if we can get him in some type of role as a coach/scout.  He obviously has a good idea of what players can do what.  This will make the money we pay him be worth it, especially considering this year is likely to be a rebuild.

First of all whether we try and get money back from a player doesn't impact the cap hit. It is still 11 million. So why would you do that if you had 11 billion dollars and would love Luke to be in your organization at some level. You don't need the money and unless you were vindictive or a douche you aren't going to penalize your defensive leader for calling it quits due to health concerns.  I bet it never even crossed Tepper's mind.
