MHS’s Big Board for Round 3:

Most of you have heard by now that I predicted the 38th pick correctly, so I am being begged to do it again.  I am humbled by the outpouring of support and the soup kitchen mentality for the knowledge I have to share. So with great humility and modesty, I present to you the MHS third round “big board.” And yes, my prediction will be added below:  (I am posting this at the end of the second round):

1.      LB Zack Baun Wisconsin

2.      S Jeremy Chinn So. Illinois

3.      OT Josh Jones Houston  ( Man, this would be a steal in the third)

4.      CB Robertson La Tech (fast, we like him, but he is 5'8"--I used to be 5'8" so I am cool with it)

5.      DT Justin Madubuike (Gap shooter--he would give us a body post KK)

6.      CB Dantzler Miss St. (4.64 speed, but plays faster)

7.      C Hennessee Temple (Rhule's boy)

8.      DT Elliott  Missouri  (I love this DT--wonder if we would get 2?)

9.      MLB Wilson Wyoming

10.   C Biadasz Wisc

11.   C Cushenberry LSU

12.   S Davis  Cal

13.   QB Fromm Georgia

14.   OT Nuang TCU

15.   CB Hall UVa

DDang we traded up---guessing Baun, LB Wisconsin or Chinn S, from So Ill.  Please not Robertson, but we like him.  Let's see.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
