Rhule is making a statement

We all knew that we needed to fix the secondary. This does not look like a Marty Hurney’s draft at all. Troy Pride is a long lengthy corner (5’11”) standing at almost 6’0”. Jeremy Chinn is 6’3” and now we get another 6’2” safety in Kenny Robinson. It’s going to be fun boys. Keep Pounding.

edit: and with the last pick, we get Stantley Thomas-Oliver who is 6’0”. It didn’t take long at all for Rhule to figure out that Julio, Thomas and Evans are all in the division. Rhule is going with size against size. All three receivers are 6’3” or taller. Something that Ron never could figure out during his time here.

Yeah, hope Teddy has life insurance.  Not even worried about his knee, I'm worried for his life.

Rhule is building the defense and preparing to take Lawrence

Do you believe either tackle from last year can play guard at an average to above average level in your opinion?

we have a new offense that features quick passing as well.

Little and Daley?  Is it Daley? Ummm?  I guess if Little can not get concussed again. And Daley? really needs time to develop at Tackle. Moving him could stunt whatever growth potential is there.

The defense is depleted. We are facing Brees, Ryan, and now Brady. We had to get a defense that wasn't giving up 50 burgers.

Totally get it. I do.  It was pick your poison this year.  I would have went the other way and tried to help CMC at the line a little more.  Thats all.

Also I kind of like the idea of fixing the team one side of the ball at a time. Seems like a better chance of creating dominant units in a shorter amount of time. Scattering the selections on a team with many areas to improve seems harder to find the right guys that wouldn't be reaches. That said we did make moves in FA to field a competent offense.

    • Who is "they"?  Who in the media still argues that Bryce Young could reach the levels that people thought he would before the draft? I mean, nobody is going to come outright and bash the kid.  By all accounts he's a good dude and I think that is why you don't see the media come after him like they did Zach Wilson.
    • It started during the Denver game after that first drive. i don’t think the panthers got a first down again until the fourth quarter.
    • The Panthers will finish with at least 7-8 wins.  So that leaves them with only two "smart" choices in my opinion: 1. Sign a reasonably priced free agent QB and see if they are better than Bryce Young in training camp - The issue is there will be very little options.  There is almost no way the Colts let Daniel Jones walk.  Rodgers, Flacco, and Wilson will likely retire (and is Wilson better than Bryce anyway?).  Winston is under contract with the Giants for another year.  That leaves Mariota, which I'm all for, but the Commanders will make a big push to keep him given Daniels' injury history.  Outside of him, there is literally nobody else. 2. Stick with Bryce Young for one more year - Nobody wants this to happen, but the Panthers won't be in a position to draft one in the first round and it isn't a strong class to begin with.  Mendoza, Simpson (and do we really want an Alabama QB?), and Moore will likely all be off the board by the time we pick.  Bryce isn't good, but we are still 5-4.  I'd rather continue to build the rest of the team than reach for a QB.  Then we could set ourselves up nicely in 2027 to make a splash play if we choose.  This is how we should have approached years past; stuck with Kyle Allen or Sam Darnold or Teddy Bridgewater and kept building the team until we were ready to make a splash.  But every year we panicked and did something stupid. There is the idea you could throw a dart at a guy in the later arounds, but IMO this just isn't a good QB class and odds are it will be a wasted pick.  I still think we need a lot of depth on the defense.  I'd rather focus there.
