My opinion of what we do with our rookies.

This is my attempt at getting all of our best players on the field at the same time. If Chinn plays safety then where does Robinson play.

Hopefully Robinson can replace Tre later on

I'm sure all the people making all these statements about Chinn have watched a lot of Southern Illinois football.

I just want to get them as much PT and experience as possible this season since I honestly don't expect to be competitive anyway.

I don't expect us to make the playoffs this year but I'd like to and the best way is to put your best players or the players with the highest ceiling all on the field.

Here is how I see it--put the player where he has the best chance to succeed--to make a difference.  For example, I think Moton would be an all-world G---but he is a serviceable to good RT.  I think Chinn at CB is wasting his talent--he would be great as a versatile S, in the box, in coverage, blitzing, contain, etc---but outside at CB, he would not.

Now, you might stunt and blitz to fool the QB and have him cover outside once in a while, but everydown at CB, he would not be effective in my opinion.

He is a great athlete--very versatile---and the OP's point is not lost in that regard.

I appreciate you actually articulating a answer, thank you.

...... Why not? Simmons took quite a few snaps at outside corner. In cover 3 the Cbs dump into a safety position. If we play alot of zone they can easy, even in man why not.

Because that was college and they could get away with that in college. Can't do that in the NFL.

Chinn is nothing more then a SS makes me laugh!

No one said that Chinn is nothing more than a SS. Some of you guys are getting hilarious assuming that Rhule is going to play guys everywhere on defense. Go look and see where all these “hybrid” players are doing in the NFL. Deone Buccanon was cut by the Bucs a month into the season last year and is still a free agent at the moment. Haasan Reddick was recently rumored to be on the trading block. Budda Baker has been okay. Where is Obi Melifonwu? Also, Chinn is 220 lb. He’d probably be the biggest corner out there.

Both have all the athletic tools to play CB. In fact one thing I love about Chinn is his 41 inch verticle allowing him to challenge the biggest wds or TEs in the game and his 138 broad jump telling me he is explosive off the line.

So? If he was slow I'd say yeah this effects him but he's explosive and has a insane vert. What about his athleticism keeps him away from CB? The only thing I can think of is positional knowledge. If we resign Ross I will be happy but at the moment Donte isn't a CB 1.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
