QB Conundrum

If they were confident in him he would have gotten more money or more years. It’s a show me contract. As far as why not blame coaches... do you want them to say “hey we don’t have too much here but we will try to make it competitive”?

They would have given him more money or years? If this is how our front office approaches free agency, they are worse than I could have imagined. You get as close to a player's damn market value as possible. Overpaying for no purpose whatsoever is the front office decision-making of amateurs.

If he was an actual franchise QB then neither more money, or more years would have been an overpay.

If Teddy wasn’t scared to take hits he would stand there a little longer to deliver a deeper ball. And I do watch All-22. I also attend a game each year and watch them live each week I don’t. Nobody in their right mind thinks that Teddy hasn’t left plenty of plays on the field. Sorry I’m at work or id type out longer replies for you. So if you are waiting for a reply at times thats why.

Saying you attend one game every year is irrelevant to this discussion unless you've attended a game this year and watched Teddy.  What does "watch them live each week" mean?  Again, is that Fox's televised showing?  Because I've already explained that you can see very little of receivers on any given pass play unless they show a replay, which seldom happens for a receiver who was not the intended target.

No one is arguing that Teddy hasn't left plenty of plays on the field...that's a strawman.  I simply stated that all QBs leave plenty of plays on the field and I don't know that Teddy does it any more or less than any other QB.  If you watch the All-22 every week then why not shut me and everyone else up and show some clips?  Or if you're technologically challenged and don't know how to post a clip or GIF, even just some timestamps so I can refer to some of these plays and see where you're coming from.  Otherwise it just comes across as your perception being heavily influenced by those 3 or 4 plays they've shown on TV where Moore was open and Teddy didn't look his way.

There are a lot of reasons QBs get rid of the ball quickly rather than it being because "they're scared".  Play design...offensive scheme...taking the chunk yardage over a potential sack...not sure why you attribute that to fear.

And no I don't ever sit here and wait for a reply from anyone lol.

did you notice how many times he used the words 'i believe'?   beliefs and $5 will get you a happy meal

I mean honestly I prefer that over people who continuously frame their beliefs as fact.  As long as he's basing that opinion off of something substantive, which is TBD.

He is what his market value is. It's that simple. I'm tired of hearing this "franchise QB" drum that you guys are beating nonstop. The problem with signing Teddy was that he's too good for a team needing to tank and compile picks.

And we are tired of hearing that he is a franchise QB from posters here as well. That’s where this stems from. People comparing Teddy to some of the greats or some of the leagues best young talent. He isn’t on their level. He was a smart signing for three years that we will likely get one more out of him.

Possibly more than a year, it really just depends on the upcoming draft and the direction we decide to go in. I am okay passing on riskier options at QB if we aren't in the Fields/Lawrence sweepstakes.

I’m ok with whoever we draft, honestly. None of them will look like an awful pick because we need a lot.

Looking back at that post: 0 times “I believe” was used. I did write “I think” once, however.

Just because stats are being accumulated doesn’t mean he is making the best read. And you used the term occasional. I did not. I think Teddy panics and forces the short pass too often because he is scared of taking hits. People complain about the line but I believe he has more time to throw left on the field and he checks down out of panic or habit.

Not that I particularly care about this argument, but that's what he was referencing.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
