Preseason game two: Adjustments and Melo

Gotta say the team is looking much better tonight midway through the second.  Looks like Melo has settled down a bit and is playing more confidently.  Some great highlight passes.  Also impressed with PJ Washington. Team looks like theyre having fun which is a good sign. Synergy is very important.

McDaniels has looked good. LaMelo is going to need to develop a shot if he ever is going to be a foundation piece for Charlotte. Great passes won’t win you much games. This Flynn kid for Toronto can really shoot the ball and playing aggressively.

Melo does negate his height with his shooting mechanic. You CAN'T bring the ball through your body. If he is able to learn how to shoot with the ball over his head watch out.

I’m not sure about a Playoffs spot. We’re lacking a big who can consistently rebound and protect the rim. Hayward hasn’t really looked like that All Star caliber player that can carry this team like what Kemba did. It is the preseason only.

I think Hayward played much better as the night went along.  I think our primary rotation out performed the Raptors tonight. Youre right though Flynn does look good.

I wouldnt sleep on Biyombo being a rim protector.

I think that Hayward will be a 16-18 ppg guy. A major upgrade from Batum but he’s not going to carry this team all season like Kemba. That’s just what I expect a guy getting paid 30 million a year to do.

I dont really think Kemba carried the team.  He is a really good player....but I dont think he made everyone better.

I mean he did...but he didnt.

Kemba didn’t make another guys better but we won many games because of him. You need guys like that in the NBA.

Yeah sure you do. The guy who actually carried us into the playoffs was big Al. Kemba made some spectacular plays but he also had big limitations. An amazing ball handler and good defender. Ultimately his size was an issue.

Hayward I think can do it all. He doesnt have much weakness in his game...and I think he makes everyone better.

I think he will have a better year then you think.  Youre not going to get a read on Hayward in preseason ball like you can the younger players.

When Hayward is getting 32+ minutes per game he will be a 22/6/5 guy all year. Close to 50/40/90. That is worth $30 million.

I know it’s only preseason but we still seem to have problems closing out games. We hold a lead for 3 1/2 quarters and then suddenly we lose momentum. Very frustrating!

Hornets had players in who will hopefully never see the court in the 4th.  Hayward will control the 4th much more and there should be better execution down the stretch.  I liked seeing the top guys push the lead back up at the end of the 2nd quarter. That is promising for the last quarter.
