Regarding Kevin Colbert...

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

I know there are some who were hoping we'd go after him. It doesn't look like we are.

But somebody is...

It was previously reported that the Lions were going to make a play for John Schneider of Seattle. Haven't heard anything more on that, but now that Seattle is out of the playoffs I suppose it's possible.

And yeah, it's also possible they could try to pry Kevin Colbert out of Pittsburgh.

Funny thing though: Back around 2000, the Lions had Colbert. He was their Director of Pro Scouting and was considered to be a rising star.

But then the Rooneys called with a job offer, and Colbert politely told his boss that he was probably going to take it. The boss responded with a two-word text...

"Good choice."

A year later, team owner William Clay Ford named Matt Millen the Lions GM.

Yikes! :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

Two decades later, the Steelers have been one of the most successful teams in the league while the Lions are pretty much still the same dysfunctional organization they were back then.

Can the Lions lure Colbert back and have him fix twenty plus years worth of mistakes? Doubt it. My guess is he's going to retire, although I'd love to have him do some consulting work for the Panthers, maybe help us get things organized (if he were so inclined).

But the real point here is to say that picking the wrong GM can screw your team for a long time to come.

So please, dear Panthers...

...get this right!

Tepper doesn't hire "consultants".

Colbert is too old, he was never in the set of possible hires.

This is not Jerry’s regime mr Scott we are not going to get a Gk because he was a former player or because he’s family friendly , we need a Cut throat Gk that will bring us quality players

Well, we interviewed a guy like that, but he just withdrew his name from consideration.

Wasn’t a fan of the colts butt boy , what has he even done to be considered a gm? I’m not impressed. Guy I want is the 49ers guy

I actually want Adam Peters as well.

But Dodds was legit too. He helped the Seahawks put together two Super Bowl teams and he's helping the Colts build a contender today. He's one of the most sought after GM candidates in the league right now because his resumé is legit.

Not meant to be here though, so here's hoping the guy that we do  end up with is the right one.

I don't want to know how Lions fans feel.
