The Wildcat Formation

Lt Pinkerton

Have you noticed that Miami gets all of the credit for instituting that formation when our own Panthers did it multiple times in the last Atlanta game in '06? I remember because Chris Weinke literally attempted only 7 passes and yet we still won. ATL just couldn't stop the Wildcat.

Yep. But really, Henning was OC when we ran them here in '06, and now that he's in Miami....

He's not taking away any credit from Henning. It's obvious who's idea it was to run it. He's just wondering why nobody even picked up on it when we ran it although we had used it the whole game.

It was the fact that every play they ran from it scored in some way and it got attention cause brown had 5 total tdz, and the former 1-15 fins raped the former 16-0 patriots

I did think that tho when I first saw all the attention it was getting

didn't weinke set some single-game passing record and then the next game was that one...I was wondering what the hell the panthers were doing

You're a little touchy tonight, aren't you? I know what the man said... so you really don't need to explain it for me. Never said he took credit away from anyone. What I DID say that Henning was here when "we" ran it in '06. And now he's in Miami. The inference was here, that maybe it's somehow kind of fitting that he's still getting credit for it via Miami getting all the hype for it.

As for "us" not getting any recognition for running it "first" in '06... is that any different than any of the other press coverage we usually get?

Yea I remember that, we did the same play 10 times in a row and they couldnt stop it. We just ran and ran. John Fox must have had a raging hard-on during the end of that game.

    • I see both sides of the arguments, but compared to last year we're somehow at an upgrade over completely fried Dalton and wasn't even good in college Plummer. At least Pickett and Grier probably have some desire to make more money when Dalton was happy to just go through the motions and I will never understand why they even bothered with Plummer.
    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
