Ian Rappoport: Multiple teams interested in trading for Teddy Bridgewater

If we pay it, do we get to dump cap space?...especially next year?

We owe him $10M this year. If we trade him for a box of cereal we save $10am more in cap space (in addition to his $8M not guaranteed and his full 2022 salary). We can pay any amount of that $10M for the new team for some compensation. If the new team wants us to eat it and gives us a 7th rounder, I guess you could do it but you might just release him at that point if you don’t hate him, like we did with Cam, so he can go where he wants.

The only leverage we have is acting like we want to keep him. We will probably keep him through the draft and see if there is any interest.

I agree that a trade before the draft is highly unlikely.  We wait and see if a QB needy team behind us somehow misses out on one.  That would be the team(s) we pitch an offer to even if the trade includes a conditional late day 3 pick in 2022.  Remember, we are down two picks next year, so getting the draft capital in 2022 is probably better than getting immediate reimbursement this year.
