Jake Delhomme is playing out of his mind today

Jake had a good game yesterday, no one can deny that. But no one said Jake would never have a good game again.

The problem with Jake is you never know each Sunday which Jake you will get. He hasn't been the poster boy for consistency, and no one can deny that. He is actually a lot like Jake Plummer in that regard.

Eh I disagree, at least if you are saying that he has been this way during his whole career with Carolina. I will give you last year and this year. Other then that he is no more inconstant than the rest of the QBs in the NFL.

Pretty much ALL QBs have multiple bad games during a NFL season.

Jake has shown over the last three games that he is not that bad of a QB when he gets good pass protection and doesn't face tremendous pressure on seemingly every snap. The Bills game is the exception, the pressure was light, however we all know Jake threw way too many passes in that game to begin with, which was unnecessary.

Bottom line, ANY quarterback in the NFL should be able to have a game like Jake did yesterday when the O-line prevents any pass rush. So, I think the pass-rush ability of the opponent from here on out is the best indicator of our chance to win. If Jake has time to make throws, then we can mix the run and pass more, which keeps the defense guessing - that is if Davidson doesn't fug it up.

Who cares about his career? I am talking about now.

Ok, well up until the last 3 weeks Jake has just been poo, not inconsistent, just total poo.

The problem with Jake is you never know each Sunday which Jake you will get. He hasn't been the poster boy for consistency, and no one can deny that. He is actually a lot like Jake Plummer in that regard.

It sounded like you were talking more about Jake over the years not just Jake the last 12ish games. Thats just the way i read it.

Everyone would agree that Jake is streaky and you can tell how he is going to play almost from the outset. Still if you look at last year he went through 10 games without a pick and then had several multipick games. This year he had some terrible weeks at the beginning but unlike the past he didn't bounce back the following week.

Consistency is not his strength nor is the Panthers. I frankly don't know why some of the time.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
