Holy crap!! That's scary. Long ago, when I was younger. I did a ten day backpack in the North Cascades. We were having lunch and looking at a mountain side where all the trees were broken in half. We finally figured out it was an avalanche that did it. What power!

Avalanches are terrifying. I used to do a lot of backcountry snowboarding but quit when I found out my wife was pregnant. That just changed the risk assessment calculation big time. We were pretty conservative with our decision making but the Colorado snowpack is fuging SKETCHY at its best. You take someone from Washington or California and have them dig a pit in Colorado and they just look at you like "What the FUG??!!!" while you're looking at the same pit like "Hmmm... better than I expected." 😂
