Reason for optimism?

There is a new report out that the Panthers / Harbaugh conversations were actually heavily driven from the Harbaugh side - and the Panthers decided to look elsewhere.  Full info here:  https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/report-1-nfl-team-turned-down-jim-harbaugh-after-speaking/ar-AA166lrJ?ocid=entnewsntp&cvid=49862d5002f4437981dfe329aade457a

I'm personally happy that we didn't just cave in to another used car salesman.  Maybe we did learn our lesson.

I may be the only person that really didn't have a strong opinion of hiring Harbaugh one way or another.  Yeah, reports out of the Niners camp had him wearing thin on the locker room, but he also had a lot of help by the two stooges above him (Baalke and York), so it is tough to assess how that would have gone without "hepp."

But, if he wanted what I have seen in terms of money and control, yep, bring on the punter and move on.

What this confirms is that the Panthers job is not seen as the worst of those available/expected to be available.  I know that is a shock to a lot of people, but the Broncos are a mess, the Colts are a little less of a fiasco than the Broncos, and if the Cardinals job comes available it is not exactly a pearl, either.  Houston is, well, Houston.  Let's face it, none of these teams are in the market (along with maybe some others) because their long-time, beloved, successful coach decided to hang 'em up while things were going great.

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
