K. Johnson just got ripped

Smithers

Recommended Posts

On the ESPN pregame show, the crew was discussing the NFL's new concussion policy and how it affects injury disclosure. Johnson made his comments, basically stating that he would hide injuries to meet the incentives in his contract to get more money. Jim Brown looked at Keyshaun and said "I guess I come from a different era," going on to say that money was not as important to players in his day and that winning was the priority. It was awesome seeing Johnson get called out for his greedy ways on live TV.

And yes I know this could have been placed in the NFL Forum...but I figured it deserved to be here since we all hate the former player.

i have no clue why some panthers fans absolutely hate keyshawn. just because our team has poor coaching and a bad general manager doesn't mean any player we cut loose was the problem.

keyshawn's point made sense. not everybody in the nfl has the kind of contracts the big names have. if you're only making 300,000 a year, do you really wanna risk losing your starting position, special teams position etc by having your backup come in and play well?

he only brought up that point after Brown questioned him. At first he only mentioned money, and was only talking about himself. He said that he only needed 19 yards to hit 1000 for the season, and that he wanted to play only to reach 1000. He said that the team couldn't make the playoffs, so that is all he was concerned about. He tried to cover up and not sound so TO like afterward by mentioning those players that might lose their starting spot or roster spot altogether.

And I hate Keyshawn because he is Keyshawn, not because of his time as a Panther. He is greedy and is not a team player. he whines to much and does not try to make others around him better. That, in addition to more, is why I hate him. The sad part, he acts that way despite a very mediocre NFL career.

what nfl player isn't selfish? steve smith's the one whining after wins complaining that he's not an asset to the team.

Sorry, but Smitty is nothing like Key. Smitty will always put himself on the line & never trash talk his players like Key does. Sometime Key doesn't even try when he has the chance where Smitty will.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
