No trades and post Hurst signing:

Of any trade idea now, I’m thinking trading back from 39 to late second round and adding additional day 2 picks. The Bears and Lions are two teams with options to do that.

At this point if we take a TE he will have to be better than Hurst, or replace Ian but until we cut Ian I would skip TE later in the draft. And if we keep Ian I would skip TE altogether in the later rounds. Jmo.

If we address #1 WR in FA, then we should look at TE with our second round pick imo, but I do love Gibbs. I think Gibbs behind our o-line would have a chance to be like Alvin Kamara in his prime when he used to care us up. We just desperately need a big #1 TE to make things easier on whatever rookie QB is out there, but Gibbs is really good too.

Hurst will be our TE1 next year with Thomas or Tremble TE2/3, unless we draft a TE. If we do, Tremble can take Ricci’s  role or we can release/trade Thomas. I like Kuntz late because of his size and athleticism, and that playing behind Hurst will allow him and Tremble time to develop.

His measurables are crazy. People are freaking out over Washington, but Kuntz is the same height, 10lbs less, ran the forty a tenth second faster than Washington and out jumped him by 9” in the vertical and 6” in broad jump. He also benched more reps. He could be a huge steal in the 4th or later, but I suspect front offices paid attention at the combine and he’ll rise.

I think Washington would have the edge on run blocking over Kuntz, and Washington has the body development. You know Kuntz, to be 6'7 or 6'8 and perform like he did at the underwear Olympics might be something we're never seen before. He's a freak, but how long before he is NFL ready? I think that's why he's projected so low. He'll have to fill out in the weight room, like another 10 pounds or more.

He weighed 10lbs less but benched two more reps than Washington. I don’t think he’s far from Washington in strength and his explosiveness if already better, and you can get him in a later round as opposed to top 2nd.

He can be TE3 for two years and then be ready to take over when we move on from Hurst. Tremble is in the same boat.

Yeah I think if he has like a season of NFL weight training and he can get more powerful then you've got something there. Just looking at his arms and legs, and he kinda is like a big WRs who doesn't really like the contact, if he can transition to a bigger tougher guy who can block and scrap more then that is great. You've found yourself a later round gem there.

I think that description fits Musgrave and many have him going early day 2.

Welp I don't know if you heard the news yet, but I think you can stop mocking Gibbs to us. We just signed Miles Sanders.

    • Not exactly sure that is an honest assesment of the talent he had to work with that year. Olsen had over 1100 yards that season making the PB, Stewart had close to 1100 total yards also going to the PB. He had Kalil at C who went to the PB, Trai Turner at RG who also went to the PB, and Michael Oher at LT who played well enough that the Panthers offered him a new contract the following year. I wouldn't call that a trash OL. He also played with a defense that was stacked with talent as well.   "The thing we are doing better this time around is actually surrounding our #1 overall draft pick QB with talent vs. asking him to completely carry the offense. I just hope that effort is leading us to realize that the guy isn't even good enough to get carried." Please.... Did you not read the list of names Newton had to work with his rookie season. I guess you missed it so I will post it again for you... Steve Smith (PB), Greg Olsen (PB), Brandon LaFell, Ted Ginn JR, Deangelo Williams (PB), Jonathan Stewart (PB), Jordan Grossn (PB), Ryan Kalil (PB) on the offensive side and then he had Luke Kuechly (PB), Jon Beason (PB), Thomas Davis (PB), Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short ( PB ),Charles Johnson, Greg Hardy (PB ), Mike Mitchell, Josh Norman (PB)  For comparison, here is who Young had his first year.  Chuba Hubbard, DJ Chark, Jonathan Mingo, Adam Thielen, Hayden Hurst, Ikem Ekwonu, Chandler Zavala, Bradley Bozeman, Nash Jensen and Taylor Morton. Not a single PB player on the list and most of them aren't even playing any longer. Additionally, his HC was fired during the season and the defense was as bad as the offense.  You might not like the comparison but saying Newton had to completely carry the offense isn't exactly fair to the 4 pro bowlers on offense who played with him that year.
    • That's why I say we have to keep looking. Even if you believe Bryce is the guy, KP and Grier are not and who knows if King is anything more than a gimmick player, we should be active in improving our 2nd QB spot. Season ending injuries happen, and you don't just want to roll over and give it up. How many starters have we seen come from the ranks of backup? Having 2 potential starting QBs is one of the best problems we could have.
    • Eh, it’s more on how bad the refs are. Some of these calls against the canes are no calls
