Facing Facts on Moore vs. Delhomme

I like how we're comparing one game vs a multi-year career. Some of you seem to think that Jake has never been good before, but that's complete BS. Yeah, he has been bad this year, we get it, it's time to move on and stop complaining about it.

We're all pulling for Matt Moore, but we really don't have a clue how good or bad he can be for more than a game or two at a time until we actually see it. Anybody who says otherwise is just guessing.

I was heartened to see that the team didn't get into a funk when Moore threw his INT yesterday, and Moore kept it together pretty well too after that. Of course, it was Tampa Bay we were playing, but they appear to be improving as the season goes along, and they are playing with a rookie QB (it was nice to see someone ELSE having a Jake-like game for once). We are going to be in every game where we don't give the ball up a lot, we don't need a superstar, 300 yard passer (though I'd take one in a heartbeat), we need someone who CAN spread the ball around and do a good job of checking off his receivers to keep the other side's defense off balance. With our running game, we can do some real damage if those things happen. If we can get our STs' playing worth a darn, these last 4 games could be interesting.

Credible deep threat based on one pass? Played better with a 73 rating?

Sad that things have sunk so low. Lets see what happens against a decent team. Even New England is only 7-5 so even beating them is no great task. I hope we win but the chances are not good at all.

I don't believe what i'm seeing.

When was the last time New England lost two games in a row and lost to a team like Miami in the 4th quarter. The problem is NE kept thinking that they could trade away pieces and beleived they could replace them with no problem. This year it is catching up to them as the defense has been pretty ordinary. They are definitely not the team people thought they would be this year with Brady coming back.

NE is not the team they have been in recent years. They should have 2 more losses on their record (Buffalo in season opener and Baltimore when 4th down pass was dropped by the Ravens Mason when they were driving deep). They've lost a lot of impact players on their defense (Bruschi, Seymour, Vrable, Harrison), and because of their defensive woes, Brady's magic ain't what it used to be. I honestly don't see them losing 2 in a row, not with a home game for them coming up, but they can be ran on, and if our STs can actually step up for once, who knows?

BTW, there is no doubt in my mind that if Delhomme had started against the Bucs and put up the exact same numbers as Matt Moore did, there would have been ten threads on this board about how Delhomme sucked and only won the game because the defense bailed him out with all of those INT's.

The expectations are different. If Delhomme is as good as Fox wants to believe than Jake should damn well put up better numbers than Moore but he hasn't and he hasn't played "good enough to win" all season. And only throwing 1 pick would be an improvement from Jake.

Moore wasn't detrimental to the team Sunday, unlike Jake has been. He made one bad throw to Rosario in traffic. Otherwise he made all the throws we needed him to make(Something Jake can't do) with a 70% completion percentage. It was also his first game back in the starting lineup in 2 years.

it ain't about numbers.

plus, based on history, Jake couldn't have completed the throw to Smitty that went for the longest pass of the season. When Smith gets open on a vertical route Jake gets it picked or puts it otu of reach.
