Smitty's interview on the Panthers offense

I wouldn't put him in a category like a Brandon Marshall or Terrell Owens for sure. Still he has a history in the past of not associating with the other players, remaining aloof, etc. That changed somewhat with the whole Lucas issue and afternath, but he surely gets more breaks and is treated differently than most players on the team. That makes him a prima donna in my book but whatever. It isn't that important.

I see Beason bitching on the field all the time. He publicly called out a teammate and punched someone in the face at a strip club.

He may very well be that rare creature -- a primadonna linebacker.

Okay, now I'm just joking. You're right -- it's not that important.:)

What will be funny is if Fox and Delhomme are gone next year, the Panthers still struggle, perhaps even worse because the new coach is putting in a new system and all, and Smitty is still complaining. Be interesting to see what all you Smitty fans have to say then.

This team's bread and butter right now is DeAngelo Williams. When you have a running back who can gain over 1,500 yards, and his backup can give you another 800, it's much more valuable than a stud WR. Basic football.

Who is saying otherwise?

I've been a fan of DeAngelo since we drafted him, and am thrilled to see him and Stewart tearing it up.

But we've got to find some semblance of a passing offense if we want to be competitive in this league.

I think everyone knows Williams is what makes the team work. However, the Caroilina passing game this year hasn't been a display of basic football. I think what occured in 2008 was Carolina football to perfection.....and Smitty did lead the NFL in yards per game. Now I don't think we need that every year......but in order to win we still need a QB that can put the ball in Smith's hands much better than Jake did this year and that is with the understanding that we are a running team.

That doesn't make him a prima donna, as much as Kris Jenkins light. :D
