Draft Tony Pike, Sign Mike Vick

Michael Vick signed a two-year deal with the Eagles in August. The second year is a team option at right over 5 million. Unless they cut him, Carolina could not sign him.

The Panthers could try to trade for him, but that is highly unlikely.

With McNabb and Kolb on the roster NO WAY do the Eagles give 5 mill next season to Vick to play 3rd string. And its become pretty evident to the NFL world that Vick (givin his popularity and ability) SHOULD BE and will start next season. Philly will look to unload him this offseason, the Panthers once again will have a chance at him (as well as other teams).

The more I think about Vick at QB in Charlotte, the more I am actually warming up to it.

We are a run first team. Add Vicks rushing ability to DWill and Stew and our run game would be nasty. My only concern is can he make enough plays in the passing game. He has never been an accurate passer and had difficulty making quick reads.

However, given the play of Jake and Moore....combined with the lack of any decent QB's in FA, it might just be one of the best options.

God, I can't believe I actually wrote that I would support Vick here.

Yeah, you can't sign Vick. If there's any interest at all the Eagles will exercise the 2nd year on his contract and trade him. They will end up looking like geniuses if they can net a 2nd or 3rd after picking him up as a FA only a year earlier.

As for Pike, the guy is going to be terrible in the pros. Bad decision making, absolutely horrendous timing with his WRs. Half of his completed passes in college would be INTs in the NFL.

I'm hoping we can get Mallett or Bradford in the 2nd but other than those two I don't see any QB available there being worth the pick. At that point, I'd take a WR or Cody if he's there and get a QB on day 2 like Hiller or LeFevour.

i dont see teams trading for vick and he wants out. he said he cant see hisself being a "wildcat" or other positions besides being a starting qb. hes in a situation like peppers where nfl teams knows he wants out and will just wait for there team to let him walk.

Peppers and Vick are different. Vick is actually under contract and can be traded. Peppers is not until after he signs a tender.

The Eagles will not just cut Vick. They took a gamble and it worked for them. They'll get something in return.

it is alot alike because the eagles are not gonna give vick 6 million next season to be 3rd string qb what im stating is neither team is gonna get much trade value and will end up releasing each one.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
