Did anyone notice Chris Collinsworth comment during the game...

I haven't seen this posted.

I recall hearing CC stating that he spoke with Smitty before the game and Smitty made the comment about he wanted the team to bring in a #1 receiver to take the prerssure off of him. Then, Costas said something to likes of "Well Smith is the #1 who would they bring in?" Not 100% certain the exchange between the two but it perked my ears

If someone else heard this, please explain more for me

If someone DVR'd the game and you're going to watch the game again, let me know the dialog. I foound that comment interesting

claimed Smitty said he is ready for Carolina to bring in a #1 WR so the load isn't on him and he can just play the slot (I think they were implying that just play the slot as tongue in cheek). CC said doesn't matter who they brought in Smitty wouldn't be able to get away from being the #1 b/c of how good he is.

that is paraphrasing it.

I would rather have a Welker type receiver to keep defenses honest. Don't get me wrong though, I wouldn't turn down a Brandon Marshall or Boldin, but having a receiver like Welker to help convert those 3rd and medium-long's would be amazing.

steve smith IS wes welker. We need a guy to replace smitty so he can go back to the good ol' days of being in the slot tearing it up on slants.

    • i presented this in another thread. he throws better to the out breaking routes the wr run, but almost nothing to the inside. that is half the options on a wr route tree. How do you run an offense like that?  even the outbreaking routes he throws are moonballs, that allow the DBs to catch up unless the wr is wide open. he has to throw with a lot of anticipation becuase he doesnt have the arm strenght to get it there if he is a little late. thats probably why you see balls behind the wrs.
