  1. 1. Will we do better next year than this year

I think the defense is finally gelling and "getting" Meeks' system. I think we were all pleasantly surprised by the depth and competence of our O-line backups, so that bodes well for our running game. I think our backup QB just might have become our starting QB - and rightly so, given his performance as we closed out the season. I think the only things we're missing is a good complement for Steve Smith. I also think our schedule will probably be a little easier to swallow in 2010, too. Given all that, I am actually pretty excited to see the new season get started!

I say 9-7 or 10-6 right now. So yes, better. I don't know how Matt will do with a full season. He isn't going to "sneak up" on any teams. The most dangerous QB is the one you know nothing about. But since our schedule appears easier at first glance, both RB's will be healthy (if they both are on our roster), and Smitty will have a QB that can get him the ball, I think our offense should be one of our better offenses in franchise history. A healthy defense helps as well.

He wont have to sneak up on them this time. Well he wouldn't if the panthers were smart and named him starter going into the off season and give him confidence. Then he would be able to prepare properly with the team. If Moore plays next years whole season like he played the last five games the panthers would finish 13-3.

Now if we draft a QB and they start or beat out Matt in the offseason which I don't think will happen unless we get a first 10, I'd expect the panthers to be more like 9-7 give or take. I new QB will take time to grow esp. when the panther have no vet to teach...

History alone should show that we should have a better record next year, especially since our SoS is supposed to be easier. I say supposed to be because honestly, SoS is really a bunch of bullpoo that really isn't accurate due to parity.

It's not just the draft, we need to do a good job pursuing FAs' as well, and consider any reasonable trade options. We need WR help, and special teams players (not to mention a ST coach!). We have 2 great RBs', and the "O" line developed quite nicely to the point that some of them may, MAY, be worthy of being trade bait for draft picks or established players. If we keep the bulk of this team together from this season, and do a good job addressing the needs, we can most certainly have a good, possibly great, year. of course, that also means that jake is relegated to, at best, a backup spot, his days as starter have to over.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
