King also makes catches just fine... not sure why people are hatin' on him.

Because 1 catch for 40 yards is better than 3 catches for 20 yards and better blocking. Duh.

Honestly though, a lot of casual fans wouldn't know good TE play if it smacked them in the face. They think Tony Gonzalez and Kellen Winslow are the prototypes. No blocking - glorified WR lined up off the LOS just streaking down the field on a post pattern every play.

One day I hope people realize what Jeff King has meant to this rushing attack for the past few years, but I doubt it. It will take somebody else throwing big money at him before people understand what it means to have an elite blocking TE who doesn't embarrass himself when the time calls for him to catch a few passes and make a few first downs.

Well he might be #3 on the depth chart but I noticed we use all three of our Te's in each game. I don't understand why people are dissing Jeff King. He is a great blocking Tight end and can make the big catch, he isn't as fast as the others but He is great in the endzone. I think we have a great Tight end corp. and when we have a Qb that can get the job done they can put up great numbers. I Think we will still use King more for blocking and in the endzone, Rosiario is more of the catching TE and I haven't noticed if Baridge can block well, someone inform me but I noticed he can catch well and while he is still young I think him and King should share time at the #1 TE spot.

I think Barnidge already blocks better than Rosario and I think he saw more action on run plays last season than Rosario. I sometimes mistake Barnidge for King on some of his blocks. It doesn't say a lot though because Rosario's blocking skills have always been below average.

king isn't the most dynamic but he gets the job done. he is a very good blocker and catches what is thrown to him. not much in the way of YAC but he's still pretty reliable.

btw....through most of training camp last year king was the 3rd TE and barnidge was jake's go to guy.

well I think with our coaches, if Barnidge is a good student then he will learn how to block well because thats what we teach.

And King can catch the ball, I dont recall seeing him drop many passes, the problem is when he catches the ball he pretty much just falls down or gets tackled, where as Rosario and Barnidge can get extra yards

I like all three of our TE's. Nobody was "sitting the bench", as somebody said either. All three of them play in every game where all three are healthy. It's just that they have different roles. Anyway, when you like to use two TE sets as much as the Panthers, you need three of them on the roster, in case one of them gets hurt. And yes, King is a very good blocker and he's very important to the Panthers running game.

I just don't think people realize that we use a lot of subsitutions on the o-line, RB and TE all the time. Also dont we run a lot of 3 TE sets?

The Panthers don't substitute on the O-line, unless you're talking about another O-linemen coming in as an extra TE every once in a while.

Sadly, that's how it should be. But we all know training camp don't mean a damn thing to Fox as long as you're a veteran and you're playing decent. King is an important part of our team, but Barnidge would add a whole different dimension to our offense.
