Chances of lockout = high

Man that sucks. If the NFL is uncapped, I doubt I will continue to watch for very long because like you said, The REdskins and Cowboys will become the Yankees and Sox, and we will become the Marlins...god dammit, these people make millions each year, the level of greed is atrocious.

Interestingly the Sox and Yankees don't win the world series every year so money isn't the whole solution. Look at the Colts and the Saints in football. They don't have the two highest team salaries. The Saints are 4th and the Colts are 21st. We were 10th.

The league claims it wants more money to expand the NFL which scares me, makes me think a Europeaon team or similar. Let's face it the NFL wouldn't lose any poeple's money and has only fans to gain in a new country which means money.

As I understood (might be wrong), simply put the players make 60% of the money brought in and the league 40%. The league wants to switch that and give them %40 and take %60 go uncapped.

Personally I really things were just kept the way they are. Keep the organization smaller and the talent higher.

The 60-40 split is right but I read that the issue was that in the previous CBA the split was 55-45. The owners gave up another 5% and they want some back. The second article says they might be willing to keep the pot at 60-40 but want some expense credits which would essentially reduce the total pot and thus reduce what the players actually get. The cap is more about the floor than the ceiling. Some teams want to spend less and put it in their pockets. The other big issue facing owners is the revenue sharing plan. Some teams like Dallas don't want to share while others like Buffalo feel they can't continue without the revenue sharing.

Here is a rambling article with a few good points. Just skip the rest.

Here is another about the latest negotiations.

The panthers are in the top half of the league in revenue because of the PSL's. So I wouldn't worry about that. They have consistently make around 25-30 million a year and are usually found around 10-11th overall in the nfl in revenue and profit. Top twelve in overall team value as well.

    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
