Torry Holt wants to play in Chicago

Now that the man who helped receiver Torry Holt win a Super Bowl as a rookie in 1999 has taken over the offense in Chicago, and in light of the fact that Holt recently was cut by the Jaguars, the 11-year veteran wants to join Mike Martz as a member of the Bears.

"Absolutely I would consider coming to Chicago because of Coach Martz," Holt said on Friday's edition of the Waddle & Silvy Show, on ESPN 1000. Holt also said that he has kept in contact with Martz, who last coached Holt in 2005. "I mean, that's my guy we've got a lot of history with Coach Martz, a lot of great years obviously there in St. Louis. I have a tremendous about of respect for him as a man and as well as a coach.

"What I respect the most is his mind. I respect his passion for the game of football. I respect the standard in which he sets every day. So yeah, I keep in contact with him and I would definitely, if they would have me, definitely consider playing football in Chicago next year."

Holt went on to make a pitch for himself, based on his familiarity with Martz's demanding offensive system.

"In his system you got to be able to run," Holt said. "[Y]ou better be able to run, you better be cerebral, you better be able to learn, and you better have thick skin because he's so demanding, you're working with a guy who's a perfectionist. If you can't do those three things, and you're not tough and you're not willing to go and block and run routes and be efficient and be quick, you will not play in his system, I don't care if you're a first-round, second-round draft pick it doesn't matter. I don't care about your speed, if you can't do those things you cannot help this guy out and his offense. I think it's a match made in heaven if they were to bring someone like me in to actually show these guys how to run this system, efficiently, effectively and consistently."

So, basically, Holt wants to be a Bear. Whether the Bears feel the same way remains to be seen.

Isn't his brother we released few years ago is with Chicago now? Maybe he want to join him there.

If anyone watched Holt play this season you could tell it looked like his knees are shot from playing on turf all those years.

In Jacksonville, you could see he was not coming out of his breaks on grass. Thats a sign of weathered knees. Better them than us,in my opinion.

He want to go to Chicago because it's the only place in the NFL he'd still get looks. I mean, I love me some Torry Holt, but he just needs to retire. He's done his work.
