Read in the Raleigh paper about a new book out, Things We Didn't See Coming by Steven Amsterdam. The review is good, gonna check it out at the library. Also gonna check out The Road mentioned in the review, same author that wrote No Country For Old Men.

The Road will make you want to put your head in an oven. Just be forewarned.

Be patient with "The Road"

It's not an easy read

Wheel of Time is horrible. At least to me. I read it up until partway through book seven and realized that the characters were to retarded to continue.

It would have been a great series if it had ended at book three.

I agree with this. The story simply isn't good enough imo to deserve 14 (or whatever) 1000 page books.

I disagree with both of you completely. But you might find it interesting that The WOT series was originally intended to be six books, but when Jordan got to the 5th book he realized there was no way he could give the story a proper ending in six books.

Well I'm half way through the eighth book and I'm starting to have to chug through it. I love the story and most of the characters but RJ is soo long winded, it becomes a little bit of a chore to finish a book. I'm going to take a break when I finish this one.

But for reals people. Check this out.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
