Fayetteville, AR (Sports Network) -

Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett suffered a broken bone in his left foot on Wednesday and will miss spring practice.

Mallett is expected to be sidelined for three to four months after breaking the bone during conditioning drills in the morning.

"It is unfortunate since Ryan works extremely hard and has made a commitment to the Razorbacks," said team head coach Bobby Petrino. "I am confident in our athletic trainers and medical staff and believe they are the best in the country. Ryan is a strong competitor who I know will put all his effort into overcoming his injury and continuing to lead this team."

Mallett finished the 2009 season with 3,624 passing yards and 30 touchdowns while matching or exceeding 16 school records. The former Michigan standout recently chose to forego the 2010 NFL Draft and return for his junior season in Fayetteville.

 Who in the hell is Ryan Mallet? Was he even on the map, much less the radar?

Ryan Mallett will be a Jr this year but will probably be the #1 QB coming out after his senior season, that is if he doesn't for go his Senior season

He's 6'7"

240lbs

He transferred his freshman year from Michigan after LLoyd Carr announced he was retiring. He had to sit out a year. The kid has a huge arm and very accurate.

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
