2nd Round - WR - Taylor Price of Ohio (Very quick, risky choice)

3rd Round - QB - Jarrett Brown of West Virginia

4th Round - DE/OLB - Lindsey Witten of Connecticut (Very similar to Peps)

6th Round - WR - Marcus Easley of Connecticut

7th Round - WR - Denario Alexander of Missouri

They're pretty much all risky picks, but hey.

I take it this is a thread about who I like and who I think would fit best on this team if we had the opportunity to draft them? If so:

QB--Bradford would be great here

WR--Demaryius Thomas is my favorite but he's raw as hell, plus next year is the year i would like to need a receiver.

TE--Rob Gronkowski

OL--Markice Pouncey as an interior lineman and if we needed a LT, Brian Bulaga

DT--BRIAN PRICE and Arthur Jones

DE--Carlos Dunlap would probably be the best fit

CB--Devin McCourtey and Kareem Jackon, with Javier Arenas as a nickle back

QB - Dan Lefevour, Sean Cainfield (for us), John Skelton

WR - Jimmy Williams (Tulane), Andre Roberts, Golden Tate, Gilyard, and Riley Cooper (for us)

RB - Lagrette Blount (perfect replacement if Stewart is traded), Joqiue Bell (solid replacement if Dwill is traded)

DE - Austen Lane, Brandon Graham

UT (most likely no draft picks but these are my favs)- Geno Atkins, Brian Price

NT (still need one) - Torrell Troup

OLB - AJ Edds, Daryl Washington

Zac Robinson Im not sure about but have to keep in mind that he was hurt for the last half of the season so probably couldnt play that well. Tim Hiller has the measurables but gets tunnel vision and is easy to read. If you struggle with throwing picks in big games in the MAC you definitely wont succeed in the NFL. The only game I saw on Canfield he played pretty poorly against BYU but it was extremely windy.

Canfield is really raw but has alot of potential. He doesn't have the experience and you can see he hasn't figured out all the nuisances of the position. The quick decision making and physical tools are all there though. I look at him as basically a poor mans Joe Flacco.

I was really high on Hiller but he struggled this season against tougher opposition. He looks like a great QB against weak defenses but seems to be rattled when on a big stage. Not exactly what you look for but at the same time you end up dropping him down based on just a few games. He still has alot of the skillset that makes a successful QB in the NFL and I think he's definitely worth a 5th or 6th rounder.

Robinson, Skelton and Pike I'd all pass on.

Canfield is the crappier version of Flacco, the man has horrible accuracy but theres alot of buzz around John Skelton from Fordham university this year. He has great measurables and started for most of his career. If anyone has anything on him let me know because Flacco came out of no where this guy may also with his skill set.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
