Reports are that Fitterer handles those duties very well, so the idea would be to focus him on those duties and remove the personnel related aspects of his job.

Goddamn dude its not "reports" its a huddler who you happen to believe that has sources.  And I literally just decimated him above.

He chooses to believe it because he dug in so hard for Fitt when everyone was telling him Fitt was garbage and should have been  gone with Rhule.  Which clearly he should have been.

It gives him a Fitt isn’t that bad argument.  It would totally make sense to keep the old bad GM in a cherry picked role still doing GM duties.  Some how we would still have great GM candiates just lining up to apply and walk into another Panther mess lol

I mean, not that you'd ever deliberately misrepresent what someone who's debating you is saying or anything, but... 😄

The fact that he calls messageboard posts "reports" is all you need to know about Mr scott

In one of Scott Fowler's latest columns, he said he was told by a former Panthers staffer that anyone who disagrees with Tepper ultimately gets removed.

Don't know the background or the veracity of that, but you absolutely can't operate that way...especially not if you're bad at what you do.

Not discrediting Scott, but him and Tepper clearly have a back and forth going on so even if it’s sourced I feel like he could skew things.

My overarching point though is that I don’t think Tepper has been making personnel decisions. I just kinda think implying such is a way to absolve Scott and the scouting department of making poor decisions which is weak to me because Tepper reportedly gave Scott free reign to reshape the scouting department. Scott has to go and they need a whole new scouting staff in there.

And the fact that you'd rather talk about me than actual football stuff tells me a lot 😄

But then, your usual MO is to sh-t up other people's topic while never saying much of anything yourself, so...

Understood, though I think Tepper is more to blame for that than Fowler. Truth be told though, it's consistent with stuff from other sources.

As to Teppers influence, I don't think he directly made any decisions, but I do believe he might have influenced some of them. Numerous sources have suggested that he influenced the Young pick.

Now, that could have included backing Fitterer if there was a difference of opinion between he and Reich. That'd still be meddling, even if it was a less direct form.

All that said, I don't think any of it matters. You can't keep a guy who undermined your last head coach.

if this idea does turn out to be what he wants to do, it'd be pretty tricky to pull off

you seem to think because someone can’t find a direct word for word  quote of you saying something they can’t summarize your stance lol.

I didn’t misrepresent how hard you dug into Fitt defense coming into this season.  Everyone knows that.

I haven’t seen you ask for the incompetent clown to be fired.  Only you theorize about how the Fitt actually is a great at many parts of the job and that it could work with him staying….and retaining a large portion of his GM duties lol.

At some point you think you could walk away from all your bad positions.  You always got to keep one foot on the bag though.

I've said it repeatedly since the "Hunger Games" story came out.

But I guess that doesn't your narrative, so... 😄

Returning to the actual topic, a quick summary...

Amid speculation that, having promoted John Lynch to "President of Football Operations", the 49ers could easily give Adam Peters the GM title where he'd continue to be in charge of personnel. Peters was declining interview opportunities with other teams last year, so his departing San Francisco seems highly unlikely.

Lions Assistant GM Ray Agnew has an obvious connection to Ben Johnson, but also is connected to current Panthers DC Ejiro Evero and OC Thomas Brown. A lot of people like the idea of a Johnson / Evero pairing. This could potentially make that easier.

Other potential candidates include Bears Assistant GM Ian Cunningham (who interviewed for the Assistant GM job here before Dan Morgan was hired) and Ravens Director of Player Personnel, Joe Hortiz (who I'd love to get).

It’s Joe Horriz from the Ravens for me. We need a change of culture in the worse way and the Ravens have been perennial winners.

Ray Agnew makes sense if Tepper is truly sold on Ben Johnson - his connections with Evero and Brown makes the transition easier though I’m not sure Brown sticks around after this disastrous season.

Ian Cunningham is at least worth consideration based on his background.

No argument.

Brown could go back to RB Coach, though I think It'd be funny as hell if Johnson brought Staley back.

I like Hortiz, Peters, etc.

Other names that should be of interest imo: Glenn Cook (Browns), Cat Raiche (Browns), Andy Weidl (Steelers), Alec Halaby (Eagles), some have mentioned Brandon Hunt.

I think Glenn Cook gets a job this year, he was apparently really close to getting either the Titans or Cardinals job last year.

Also as I mentioned before it’ll be interesting to see if any of these HC/GM pairings are different from what we expect based on who works together currently. Like for example if Joe Hortiz ends up being connected to Ben Johnson as opposed to Mike MacDonald. Or like Bobby Slowik being connected to Glenn Cook vs Adam Peters. Stuff like that will be interesting when it starts to trickle out.

    • As far as elite/elevate talent QB’s It’s Allen Mahomes Jackson and Burrow that’s it.  Then we have tiers and those can be debated all day Dak is a good QB but I know this board would want him out of Charlotte if he was the QB here. 2 playoff wins in 10 years. Justin Herbert no playoff wins. Threw 4 interceptions in last years playoff game. 23 TD passes last year. 20 the year below and 25 the year before that. This board loves stats without context and these stats aren’t saying they’re much above complimentary  Kyler Murray isn’t good. I’m not sure how he made this list.  Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence both benefiting from some real good offensive coaches right now. They’re both complimentary pieces until proven otherwise  I like Jordan Love. Always have. I wanted to draft him but he isn’t a superstar.  CJ Stroud hasn’t been much better than Bryce after his rookie season. After that Bears game year 2 his numbers very similar to Bryce I will say I think Drake Maye is well on his way to becoming the next top tier QB if I had to pick one from this entire list. I’d also say Baker Mayfield is a damn good QB and I’d take him over most of those guys not in the elite category  Now if you want to debate tools and which QB’s possess tools to put them in higher tiers that’s a completely different discussion. Most QB’s on your main list all have those physical tools that will keep you thinking he’ll become the next top tier QB. They’ll sprinkle in a “wow” play or two a game. Bryce will never look that way. Young’s game at its peak will physically always look different and I think that’s where most people struggle when it comes to seeing how Young’s can be successful in the league  All QB’s need a team around them. I think the Bills are failing Josh Allen much like the Panthers did Cam. Beane and McDermott using same blueprint with Bills team. Josh Allen hasn’t had much in terms of WR’s and it’s ultimately costing them when it matters the most
