Trans: Stop looking the nebulous ideas I pass off as facts and showing how they have no anchor to reality.

NFL.com speculated on something, so it must be true cuz the NFL is the actual league! I could care if the same website posted contrary info.

SMH... Okay hall monitor. Try this -> [/condescending smartass]

I might be able to pull something rational out of your posts then. Maybe they will pertain to football too. Thanks.

If you read all my posts in this thread and can comprehend the english language, you would see that my point was - Hurney should have traded him last year for whatever we could get since he was determined to tag him anyway. Not pay him a mil a game to where we couldn't make any other moves, have a subpar season, and then let him walk.

No I only read the first page. lol

and yet again, they couldn't because 1) he didn't sign his tender till the start of training camp and 2) nobody knew for certain who would actually take on his contract PLUS give up draft picks despite the rumored "Peppers to NE" talk

Seems to me the time span ranges about 3 seasons when even Hurney himself knew Peppers wanted out. He decided to keep him which was smart because he technically had a playoff caliber team given he ignored the Arizona game which obviously he did. The problem is Peppers played half a season and got 10.5 sacks, if he got 21 sacks and played the whole season and possibly get the panthers into playoffs, would Hurney be blamed so much for the decision? Probably not. Everyone shares the blame and sacrifices will be made all around the table, some ultimately end up bigger than others.

I give you the part about Pep not signing the tender. The FO couldn't do much about that... BUT, we don't know how much of that was up to Pep. Hurney made it clear they weren't letting him go for anything less than what the QO required. No team wanted to meet that requirement... who would?

So, with that being said, if you were Pep would it matter whether you signed it early or later? Prolly not, b/c Hurney pretty much killed the market for him.

But as far as the contract, I'm willing to bet another team would've traded for him had they felt the compensation was fair in terms of draft picks, b/c if I'm not mistaken they could sign him long-term during the trade process and drop his cap number to less than the 16 mil he would get under the tag.

But the thing is that they tried to offer him a long-term contract at the beginning of the offseaon last year, he didn't accept thus forcing them into tagging him.

It would matter to the extent that the so-called list of teams that he wanted to play for most likely got shorter and shorter because of his negativity towards the Panther
