The Panthers won 1-2 Superbowls

I do not think so.

I think a lot of fans really do realise just how hard it is to win consistently in this league. There has not been one season under Fox that has asked for a firing, as all have been right on the edge of playoff football. The thing is, you probably need to look at other teams during Fox's time here, to realise that not many more teams have had more wins. Of course back to back seasons with winning records is important, but sometimes you need to look at the big picture and where the team is heading.

Somehow, the Panthers have never had to go through a rebuilding phase throughout all of Fox's tenure, which suggests he and Hurney are VERY good at preparing for whats coming next. Sure a couple of high profile players make people irrationally criticise them, but they are high profile because the players themselves were expected to do a lot better. 8 years without a rebuilding season and it certainly looks like another one is coming next year as the vast majority of our roster is young and very promising.

Coaches get fired for losing the locker room, catastrophic seasons and not having a 'plan' for the team. There have been no catastrophic season, the way we always finish strong suggests the players have never quit on him and no rebuilding year, suggests he always has a plan for the team.

I fully agree that his time here is done, but up till now there simply has not been a cast iron reason to sack him. Past success or not. I only think his time here is over, is simply because it's a good time to part ways. Wiht his contract expiring, the potential lockout and the roster looking set for the upcoming future, it's a logical time to allow someone new and fresh take over the reigns and have time to tinker and tailor the already promising team into a contender.

I dont understand this constant bashing of Fox and Hurney... Mind you we have had our most successful seasons under these two guys. Has it ever occurred to anyone that the reason they continued to start Jake was because they felt that was their best chance of winning? Out of 32 teams in the NFL, we have been more successful than about 3/4 of them over the past 6 season. We could be the Redskins/Browns/Bengals/Raiders/Dolphins/Jaguars/Seahawks/49ers/Lions/Rams/Chiefs/Broncos/Texans/Jets Bills... But instead we have been a better team than all of the above the past 6 years... In fact, over the last six years we have been better than the Bucs/Falcons/Cardinals/Saints/Vikings/Bears/Titans and Ravens... that leaves only a handful of teams that have been better than us in the past 6 seasons.

SO STFU ABOUT FOX AND HURNEY... You guys who are calling for their heads are complete morons! There are very few teams that have had our success over the past few seasons and the ones that have, have been blessed with really good QBs. No, Fox/Hurney should not be fired. Look at the list of teams we have been better than! We have made it to a Superbowl and another NFC championship game! We have been drafting like champs, and while everyone moans about trading our 1st Rd pick, they did it because they felt it

A. Gave them the best chance to win

B. Got us J-Stew and one of the better O-linemen on our roster!!!

Yeah, what a bad move picking those guys and trading away a first.

STFU! Trust me, Marty and Fox know much more about football than anyone on this forum! Thats why they are in the NFL and you guys are posting in forums about the NFL. Are you getting paid for this? Have you turned a 1-15 team into a Superbowl team in 2 seasons? NO, NO, and HELL NO!

Get of Fox and Hurneys backs. Once again, we have a solid shot at making playoffs this year if we stay healthy. Then the posts pour in "were we wrong about Fox last year?" Again I will shake my head...

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
