And if you're gonna say there are no racial factors motivating how Johnson and the team have been scrutinized and received by the general public and possibly members of the local media, then you're either naive or a liar.

No one's ever asked Jerry to sell or rename his team. Even when we went 1-15 a year after the Carruth trial.

I'm not pleading the case for a name change, nor pleading the case for Bob to sell the team. I'm pointing out that the Bobcats front office is not the "gold standard" that you're making out them to be in comparing them with the Panthers.

To who? Who really gives a schitt what Charlotte calls its basketball team? Get a clue.

If you want the fans to buy into your franchise, and the fans want a new name to get behind, why on Earth would you say no?

I don't necessarily want a name change, but if the majority of fans want one..and right now it seems like it, i would be down. All i know, is that i'm going to support the home town teams because they represent where i'm from and grew up. They could be called the tarheels for all i care(eek and im a dukie).

If you want the fans to buy into your franchise, and the fans want Michael VlCK, why on Earth would you say no? The observer poll has fans voting yes to MV7 over 60%!!! Every Panther fan Ive talked to the past couple days wants VlCK. So tell me Meat, why on Earth wont the Panthers sign him? Why isnt this headlining the front page of the Observer?

If that's what they want. I don't work for the Panthers any more. I know if my Rams signed Vick, I'd pick another team. So maybe there is the backlash factor wherein the pro-Vick people aren't going to give up their tickets if you don't sign him, but the anti-Vick folks are if you do. I don't know. That's for the Panthers to decide.

And for the record, I only want the Bobcats name to change to Knights. Any of the others I have heard, I'd just as soon keep Bobcats.

the reason the panthers won't sign mike vick is because the dude sucks..he's garbage. We have three legit playmakers..(Stewart, Smith, Williams) that would benefit more from a traditional qb. Anyway, this is the cats forum and a name is different than actual players. Fans have a right to the name..keep the team business to the people who run the team and know a hell of a lot more about professional sports than we do.

      Im very similar to Ron in being a company/league man. But that ends after the third head hit, I would have lost my religion. Then after I got kicked out of the game, Id 100% be dropping nukes in the after-game presser. fug you fine me whatever, I am going to protect my QB and since logic and reason isn't being used, I can be the bad guy.  The replays showed clear evidence, Id feel no shame in cussing out a crew of chicken poo refs. In fact Id tell the video staff to play infractions on a split screen during my press conference.

      And even worse you have injuries force you to play anther one dimensional train wreck combine that with Orlov being no were close to as advertised and boom you have 3 defensemen being dressed who couldn't defend my 96 year old grandmother. That said next year having Slavin,Miller,Nikishin,Chatfield gives you the best shutdown d man in the league two large athletic HIGH offensive potential D who can take away time and space....   The more I think about it the more I like this seasons approach, if you bring back burns or aquire anther large RHS with length you have 5 D all over 6'2 and 210 with three of them having great offense too, make no mistake they want size and skill on the blue line now and its almost 100% directed at getting past FL.

      Honestly the 2024 draft class(minus brooks). All are in line to be starters, expect crumedy who's fighting for a 53.  Still that class was looking terrible, is now looking like 4 starters and maybe 1 depth. Anytime you draft 2 starters and a key depth piece its a good draft. 4 starters are rare and that's with brooks who could have made 5 starters if not for awful luck.  That draft also helped land starter Michael Jackson in a round about way, big bonus..
