Like the Selvie grab at 4.

Sorry Squirrel, No WVU player predictions for you this year. Ever since we didn't take Darius Reynaud in UDFA, I am careful not to get your hopes up anymore.. haha.

Another great cover 2 LB prospect, I didn't hear about him, but I am gald to hear they talked to him. He reminds me of a poor man's Thomas Davis. He is kind of a tweener.. a LB in a safety's body. He will need to put about 10lbs of muscle on but he would be a very good LB in our system.

His stock is at a high 3rd round pick and is slipping into the 2nd round, so we might have to take him in the 2nd round which would be a reach at this point..

He'd be a good SLB prospect. Everybody had him in the middle but it became more and more obvious he'll be on the outside.

Why no DT??

The panthers FO kind of bolstered the DT corps last season already.. they spent a 5th round pick on aquiring Tank Tyler, so essentially they already took a DT in the draft. Also, picked up Leonard via waivers. That's why I don't have them taking another one.

We traded for Leonard too...

We have draft picks invested in Leonard, Tyler, Hayden, Irvin, still got Damione, haven't officially parted ways with Kemo, and signed Ed Johnson...

That's 7, at least 5 of which I expect to be here at the start of training camp...

It's possible we take one later on if the right one is there, but doubtful...

My sentiments exactly.. We are over crowded at DT. The Panthers FO brought in so many DTs so that we would not have to draft any this year and we can pay attention to other needs.

I still think we could use another NT or a UT...

I kind of feel like that that to, only because we don't have any premier DTs, but it's a numbers game. I just don't think we will take 3 DTs in this draft.

I can see us taking 1 premier DT if the value is there. But considering the need at WR it will have to be a right situation. I think we'll fill DE through FA.

I can't say this enough, I would love to trade down and get two 3rd round picks. Hell even trading down to the top of the 3rd would be great but I would want 3 3rd rounders as a result. I bet JR wouldn't be so cold to that idea if he's really looking to tighten his belt this season.

The Panthers have been seen talking to 2 LB's at length at the combine.. while this does not mean much about the individual players, it does say a lot about the panthers intentions come draft time regarding the LB position.

The two LBs seen talking with Panthers exec's were Dakota Watson (FSU) and Perry Riley (LSU), whom are projected to go in the 3rd and 4th rounds respectively. Both are scouted as being very fast and unable to play man-to-man effectively, thus projecting them to be cover-2 LBs.

2nd Round Pick - WR - Damian Williams USC

It's almost a forgone conclusion at this point, that the Panthers address the WR position with this pick. Unless they pickup a notable WR in FA as a stop-gap of course.

Call me crazy, but I think the Panthers will try yet again on a USC WR.. this is borderline insanity by the Panthers FO..

3rd Round Pick - OLB - Dakota Watson FSU

The Panthers are looking for depth, whether it be for a replacement for Diggs, or insurance for Davis.. the Panthers are looking to spend either their 3rd-4th round pick on a LB, and that's a fact.

4th Round Pick - DE - George Selvie South Florida

This guy was projected as a 1st round pick before the 09' season.. he had a very inconsistent senior season, but could be a low risk/high reward pick here.

6th Round Pick - DE - EJ Wilson North Carolina

Frankly, we need the depth at DE with the loss of Peppers.. and we will bring in much competition to get an effective rotation. BPA.

7th Round Pick - QB - John Skelton Fordham/Sean Canfield

The Panthers will definately look to take a QB in this draft.. the question is where? I believe they will take a late round flier here, and not waste a higher pick on a position that takes time to develop. Both QBs have a lot of upside and would be a good value here.

I like it all but the first pick. Give me Gilyard instead and this is an awesome draft.

    • Yes, more recently. The way duke fans act you'd think they'd won five of the last ten or something crazy when they've actually won zero if the last ten. They haven't even even played in a championship ship game in the last decade. Carolina has played in three. For all the elite NBA talent that has come through Durham, duke is in a woeful championship drought. Duke fans used to talk all kinds of poo about how Carolina failed to win titles with Stackhouse/Wallace and Carter/Jamison and honestly they had a point. We should've gotten a title or two out of those teams. But man, duke's current run of elite talent with no titles puts that to shame.
    • LOL, what? No one has said anything close to that.
    • In response to mailbag questions about drafting a center from Observer, Zietlow gives this infO  From Alex The Panthers, after all, aren’t going to be as stacked with interior offensive linemen who can be converted into centers as they were last year. Cade Mays is already gone to Detroit. Austin Corbett moved on to Buffalo. Brady Christensen might still come back, but his future is murky too … and he ruptured his Achilles five months ago.   Keylan Rutledge. The guard out of Georgia Tech has received high marks in the pre-draft process, and if he drops to the Panthers at No. 51 somehow, they should take him. He worked at guard and center during the 2026 Senior Bowl.   Jake Slaughter. The 6-foot-5, 303-pound center out of Florida really impressed at the NFL Scouting Combine in February, notably with a 5.1-second 40-yard dash time. He’s a center by trade, and coach Dave Canales likes athletic centers who can get to the second level of the defense. Slaughter is projected to be a third- or fourth-round pick.   Billy Schrauth. Another draft, another Notre Dame draft pick?At least, it’s possible with Schrauth, the 6-foot-5, 310-pound interior offensive lineman and team captain. He spent most of his college career at guard, but reports indicate a transition to center would be easy for him. He’s projected to be a Day 3 pick.
