There is no way we aren't making HUGE trades involving the draft....

With the release of hoover today this shows me that JR is trimming all the fat off the roster. Even when it's good fat that can pancake linebackers.

I don't know why we're doing this. Salary dump or prepping the team for a new coach are my only guesses. It's going to be tough to make the team better with all of these cuts if we don't look into FA.

We will probably not be active in FA so we to look for the draft to fill our needs. Draft picks are cheap and young. Good value too when you make a good choice. We're going to need a lot of draft picks.

I hope we don't pay a star player for picks but kiss our 2011 1st good bye. It's as good as gone.

I like what someone said earlier today on here. Although it would be tough to see him go, but trade DeAngelo Williams to the Seahawks for #14 and #40 or something like that. If we did that, we'd have a chance at Dez Bryant, Derrick Morgan, Brandon Graham, Jason Pierre-Paul, or Sean Weatherspoon. maybe even Rolando McClain. then richard marshall might be traded for a 2nd rd pick(if he is I hope we sign someone like Leigh Bodden in FA...which I doubt.) And almost every position in the draft is deep besides ILB, C, and FB. maybe S and OG. I wouldnt be surprised if we have 2 rookie starters next year.

No one would give us a top 15 pick for a RB.. even if he is a young pro bowl RB. There is a plethora of young studly RBs in this draft, and RBs are a dime a dozen. We wouldn't get anything more than a late 1st for DWill. Think about it.. teams won't even give up a 1st round pick for Brandon Marshall. What makes anyone think they will give us a 1st rounder for DWill??

Also, if we indeed are setting this team up for a new head coach, there is no way Richardson let's Hurney/Fox spend draft picks from the 2011 draft. JR will keep those picks off limits, I promise you that.

Only two are expected to go in the first round...

I'll reiterate what monster said and also add:

A team like the Seahawks has been a place where veteran has-been RBs go to die. A team like that would love to get their hands on a young stud, all pro already proven NFL RB.

Not even the Seahawks would give a 1st rounder for DWill. RBs are simply not worth it in NFL circles because of the wear and tear on their bodies. At most DWill has 4 years left of elite production. At most.

I agree i don't see any team trading a 1st for a RB unless it would be a 1-2nd year guy who had been setting the leauge on fire. After that RB's aren't worth much because you can replace them quite easily.

Having a talented O-line is a lot more important that a talented backfield. Ryan Clady > Adrian Peterson in terms of what teams would give up for them.

Deangelo has something like 750 carries in his entire career. LT started breaking down at 2500. When I say breaking down I mean he's a 1100 yard rusher instead of a 1300 yard rusher. So if Deangelo went to a team that made him carry it 250 times per season (reasonable for a #1 back with no reliable #2) he could still last probably another 5-6 years. That is a solid investment for a team that struggles to run if you are asking me. There is one back in this draft that will be as good as Deangelo and that is CJ Spiller. Any other team would be smart to trade for Deangelo if they wanted instant production at RB.

On the flip side...we have the money to lock up Deangelo with all these releases. We do however really need to find a #2 that can come in and make an instant impact. We need to find a way to draft one of those guys. Forget DE...we have depth there. Steve Smith is now our ONLY threat when Moore drops back. That is bad.

Agree on not overpaying for RB's. But, this is a very poor draft for RB's.

Where is the depth at DE? We have Johnson, Brown and Taylor. Not my definition of depth.

Regardless of how many years of production DWill has left, NO TEAM will give us a 1st round pick for him. There are only a couple RBs in the league that are worth a 1st round pick, and that is Adrian Peterson, Chris Johnson, and maybe MJD.. This is one of the deepest drafts in history, and the RB position is not the exception. There are like 5 RBs that weigh 220+ lbs and they all ran under 4.5!! That is insane. This draft is stacked with great talent that could be had in the middle rounds.. DWill may be a 1st round talent, but no team in their right mind would part with a 1st rounder for a RB right now. It just won't happen.

I agree, there is absolutely no depth at the DE position.. Hilee Taylor was on the verge of not making the final 53 man roster last offseason.. we basically have 2 quality DEs right now.
