Jake in Cleveland

I know, another Jake thread. But this one isn't about money or hate.

If Jake is the starter, he would have to go back to QB 101. He doesn't have his safety net - just throw it up and let Steve catch it. He would have to make plays himself. It could be a good thing for him.

You make it sound as if Steve is some sort of god. You realize almost every single one of his picks this last season and in the Arizona playoff game came trying to get it to Steve.

nah not really.

Jake has shown plenty of times in his career that he's a perfectly acceptable QB without Steve Smith. I always thought Jake was better when Smith wasn't on the field.

Against the Falcons twice and cardinals last year Jake showed he can still be at least replacement level, so he'll be an upgrade at QB if he can just fix his head.

That's the point I was trying to make. His safety net was Steve, but if Steve couldn't make a play, it was usually INT. Maybe I shoulda said "just throw it up and hope Steve catches it".

My bad. I thought you were saying Jake only got good numbers because he'd randomly throw it up and Steve would always make the play. I got it now.

no he didn't shut up kill yourself

i hate you because you are classless but yes i was mistaken he posted his

career highs in completions touchdowns and total yards in 2004 without steve smith. that is a fact. it was moose who went to the pro bowl that year. this actually makes the argument stronger as it was his best quarterbacking year in terms of statistics. so thanks fiz

    • With a better coach we would have 10 wins already With better receivers we would have 10 wins already With better pass protection we would have 10 wins already With a better defense we would have 10 wins already
    • 27th in PF 25th in yards May not be bottom 3 but it is still close to the bottom.    2024: 23th in PF 29th in Yards Still bottom of the league even after Bryce came back.  I am pretty much resigned that if the Panthers want to win a SB with Bryce they are gonna have to build an elite defense, kinda like what the Broncos had in 2015 or even this year. Because I doubt the Panthers will ever be more than a 32-20th ranked offense with Bryce at the helm.  Even with that a SB is gonna be hard to reach. I mean the last time a defense carried a bad offense to a SB was 2015.
