Interesting weeks ahead

The last few weeks have been quite interesting with the developments of vets getting cut and we are now starting to see how the roster is shaping up but in no means are the Panthers done yet.

While all indications show that DE Tyler Brayton may not be returning, there is a small possibility that he could return. I do believe he has visited the Seahawks and the Jaguars, all without a deal. Also to note, prior to him visiting Seattle, the Panthers tried to get him back so it isn't like the Panthers don't want him back. So while something may not get done soon, keep an eye this week to see what the Panthers will do, if anything.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Florida will hold its Pro Day and you know that day will be all about the "The Golden Calf of Bristol SHOW." All indications have shown that the Panthers are pretty interested in him and are anxious to see what improvements (if any) he has made. I do want to make it clear that this does not necessarily mean that the Panthers will draft him but I do feel that while most fans will not like this move, don't be surprise (if he is still available) if his name is on a Panthers jersey, just my gut feeling.

Speaking of QB, we have yet to hear anything on who will back-up Moore. I do think that the Panthers need to re-sign Josh McCown but so far I have not heard any indications that McCown and the Panthers are working on any deal. This tells me that either McCown doesn't want to be back or the Panthers are eying someone better.

For the most part, this week and ahead will most likely be quiet. We probably won't hear much up until around the week of the draft or there after but I don't think the Panthers are done yet.

I'm assuming McCown wasn't very happy about being put on IR in week 1 and missing his opportunity to step in when Jake was playing badly/hurt his finger. Now Moore has been promoted to # 1, so I wouldn't be suprised if McCown is keeping his options open.

What exactly indicates we're interested in The Golden Calf of Bristol? Between his Wonderlic and his crap throwing ability he's a disaster waiting to happen at QB.

Florida happens to have more than just The Golden Calf of Bristol and I'd be rather ill if he wasted a pick on him.

Every team has some sort of interest in him... Does not mean we'll draft him but the number of QBs they watch may indicate just how much interest we have in drafting a QB.

Now I have heard that Fox and Hurney doesn't believe in drafting a QB because it takes to long to develop, however, this offseason has been full of surprises and with this whole "youth movement" going on, it would not surprise me at all if they did draft a QB and I would even go out on a limb and say that they may surprise us all by selecting one with the 2nd round pick. I wouldn't agree with Fox and Hurney for using our 2nd rounder on a QB but considering how they draft, which is the "Best Player Available", it just wouldn't surprise me.

The only reason why I could see The Golden Calf of Bristol being a Panther is because of his ability to lead a team and just being a team player and motivator. I realize that leadership is not the only thing you need to succeed at QB but The Golden Calf of Bristol just seems like a Fox type of guy. Again, not saying that it will happen because we don't know who Fox and Hurney have in mind.

    • These are the three deep throw attempts that Will Levis made in week 12. His first one is a beauty; Levis and Westbrook-Ikhine gets the safety to bite on a deep dig only to go over the top for the score. His second throw is another beauty: a crosser to Calvin Ridley reminiscent of Bryce to XL (though Ridley has noticeably more separation on his route). His third and final deep shot was an incompletion from his own endzone on 3rd & 14 with pressure coming down on him (to me, this seems like a solid throw).   Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-02.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro.mp4 Film Room Playlist NFL Pro-01.mp4 Levis took half of the deep shots that Young did. The differences are: Ridley had much better separation than XL, which is why his deep crosser turned into a 63yd play since he was able to scamper for another 15+ after the catch. Westbrook-Ikhine holds on to his TD pass. Bryce had to throw one away to preserve time for a field goal. Bryce had two more throws that were incomplete due to the WR Are we really holding the three WR errors and clock management decision against Bryce in order to say that Will was better throwing deep in week 12? That's not passing the eye test nor is it confirmed by the data.
    • If you go on the PUP list before the season starts, you are gone for the year. If you start the year on the PUP list then you can get off of it. Kind of semantics, but we are putting him on the PUP list now which is before week 1, that’s why people who come off of it aren’t really on the PUP list until week 1, hence you usually hear right before the season that they are “starting the year” on the PUP list. I think PUP list and IR may basically be the serve the same purpose now because you also sometimes hear that if a player is added to the IR before week 1 that they aren’t eligible to come off the IR list for the entire year. Now, everyone added to IR (post week 1) can come off after 4 (or more) games so the PUP list is meaningless since it’s 6 games and starts at week 1. Anyone added to PUP or IR in the preseason is gone for the year.
    • I saw Brooks maybe a few weeks ago, he was walking pretty normally. of course he wasnt running, jumping and cutting.
